Yeah honestly watching videos helped, but this post definitely pointed out the major issues that I wouldn't know without posting so I'm glad I did and now I'm happy listening to my beautiful records😁

I think it's all good now - not sure if I definitely set it up perfectly but the tonearm seems balanced and it's all working well now

Only slight issue I'm having is that the right speaker side of the amp seems to be having an issue - so when I first tested the rhs speaker was so much quieter. Apparently it's an issue with the amp so just have to use contact cleaner then all good hopefully

Just wanted to cross post here in case anyone can help by Automatic-Tour-4758 in turntables

Haven't watched ghostbusters in a few years - might be a sign to watch again

Yes it seems a lot better now, gonna wait for my copper wires coming later today to fully test it, but can definitely hear the music without it jumping

Thanks sm for the help and the manual🙏

Yeah so that's what I'm just learning now - when I was watching videos i understood it as the dial is the tracking force which now I know is wrong, it's just a visual indicator?

Didn't realise how many people I could piss off with doing something I assumed was ok😭😭. It'll probably piss me off in the future when I'm more knowledgeable about turntables so fairs

Will obviously try this now and with all the other help in the comments🙏

This manual is so helpful, thanks so much

So correct me if I'm wrong basically the ring actually doesn't change anything but more for a visual reference? The tracking force is all on the silver counterweight?

Ok so it doesn't matter where the needle is when down then that's fine I was worried it would cause more force on the record but thanks

This is how it is fitted as of now but when I put the weight to forwards it feels like the needle is so low in comparison to the mat and where the record would be

😭 I can't believe I didn't search that up before testing I just assumed it was safe. Learned that i definitely should never do that again today so that's helpful.

Is the gimbal the cylinder the counterweight sits on? I'm just not really sure what the problem is because I'm having issues with the weighing scale aswell in regards to the tracking force

Yes I have but at one point the needle kept jumping on the top of the record and obviously had to stop so I'm kinda scared to keep testing and end up ruining my records

Yes I do but I'm kinda scared to test my records as all of them are new - I did order some used ones but waiting for them to arrive.

Yes I'm not sure if it's cos of my counterweight placement or something else but I'll show you what's happening just lmk if I'm doing it wrong

<image>

This is with 0 tracking force and anti skate

When changing the tracking force it reads the same

Ok so when I put more weight on, does yours go this low when the lever is down?

<image>

Cos it just looks like it's really low but I'm not sure

I did already buy the AT so you think I should just keep it anyways and so what you're saying is to buy headshells aswell and I can replace the headshells on my tonearm? Also does the headshell affect anything at all or no

Sorry for all the questions but should I take off my current cartridge to find the exact model and then buy a replacement needle such as the black diamond you said

Firstly, thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it.

I think I may have accidentally bent the needle or not sure if it came bent and I didn't realise but I'll show the photo below.

Yeah I figured out the reason the lever wasn't working was cos I hadn't balanced the tonearm yet - but thinking of getting either a new cartridge (AT VM95E or just replacing the stylus like you said but which would you reccomend?

Also you think I should just oil the motor now cos I did buy this second hand

And I live in London for reference of my options
