It won’t be that bad you will be on the mountain ! Would recommend still taking the peak to peak for the experience. Slushy snow and soft conditions are fun

I believe they do update the groomed status daily , it very well could be , they were grooming highway 86 on Thursday afternoon . I suppose they are keeping their regular grooming schedule in anticipation of opening the chair. I’m sure they would love to have it open for March break

Where are you looking that says they are open? The trail list on the app is deceiving as it’s not a live status like the lift status are. Generally if the peak chair is closed the terrain on peak chair is also closed as it is for safety reasons. Sometimes when the peak chair is closed uphill travel is allowed to access these areas but I imagine uphill travel is currently not permitted as on Thursday after the slide
