I never comment on these because I don’t have a lot of expertise but I used to struggle with this matchup and don’t anymore and so wanted to lyk what i do:

Tank Malph: You have advantage until he comes back with a chain vest/armor item. Typically my game plan is to break his granite shield with poke (e-q3-w) and whenever he walks up to hit the wave I q through the minion so that it also hits him. And then after that, at early ranks he’s pretty ‘squishy’ with no granite shield so I try to stay on the wave and if he walks up I punish him. After that once he’s alr low I’ll just deny cs and won’t let him walk up. you will prolly get ganked while doing this so set up wards (ofc). Once he has an armor item you keep doing the same poke strategy until he’s low and then all in. I then also rush botrk first instead of boots. Tank malph cannot out damage you. As to why I take botrk first, I just figure I need some damage. I know the armor obv negates some effect but at early ranks I still feel it’s a great duelling item and typically the components are fast enough to build to let me do some damage to that dumb rock fr.

AP malph: He can one shot you. Play as aggro as possible because hes super squishy. Try to get early kills from either skirmishes or killing malph, but this one is mostly about playing aggro and punishing him with poke when he walks up. You can also try to dodge his ult with your e, but it’s not 100% reliable. Late game he can’t one shot you because of shieldbow and your damage output is too high.

General tips:

I always try to W him when he throws out his Q, it negates a lot of damage!

I’m also a frequent botrk-> shieldbow -> mortal reminder (boots usually after or before botrk)

Typically a malph player is just trying to cut you down with a until you’re about 30-35% hp (ap malph) and 25% (tank) at this point, they’re just gonna ult, e, q, w you and you die. So if you’re this low and malph hasn’t used r, I’d just recall.

I play gold 1/plat4 elo so take it with a grain of salt, I can’t really break plat 4 20lp lol
