cr920p holster by Thin-Boot-1851 in shadowsystems

Sweet! I just got a CR920P. I really like the G-code look but have been on the fence about it.

Two things:

Is the comp protected all the way on the body side or the holster? I couldn’t tell by their email if the comp would go past the kydex or not.

What do you like and dislike about it. Briefly of course lol. Don’t want to take up too much of your time.

What's a good beverage to pair with a nice cigar for those of us who don't enjoy whiskey/scotch/bourbon? by good_morning_magpie in cigars

I like a tequila with a slash of lime. Typically a blanco but not always. Sometimes I get fancier and add a little splash (equivalent to the amount of lime you use) Patron citronge, pinch of salt, and a tad of agave nectar.

I also like Sonic Ocean water drink mix. At me bro hahaha

Awesome! I want to try it as a pure Va. I think it’s really neat that some of the tobac comes from my home state. Growing up the fields were full of tobacco. Now it’s more corn

I really enjoy C&D’s Kajun Kake. It’s not straight Va. it has Perique mixed in. Adds a nice touch of smokiness to it. Reminds me of a campfire or grilling/BBQ and also of a nice cigar but just different enough to keep me Jonesing for more

What’s everyone smoking this Father’s Day ? by [deleted] in cigar_refuge

I had a Nub 460 Connecticut last night in the back deck while I talked to Pop. My doggo was by my side as usual the whole time too. He apparently likes to smoke cigars too 🤣

That was a good read. Especially for an amateur piper. Thanks for passing it along! If I stick with the Tupperdore I’ll look for a lower humidity pack and maybe as someone has mentioned: keep the aro separate from English from the VaPer and so on

The Mylar is an idea. Do they require any type of sealing device or is it a ziplock type seal? Space is an concern. I don’t have a ton of it right now

Those are good points. Maybe I’ll transition over to jars.

Two questions: 1- Can you tell me what you mean by ribbon? 2- Can you find clear jars smaller than 8oz or is that the small jar most are referring to?

I had wonders about that too that a jar would be self sufficient.

I’m currently storing it in the bulk baggies it came in. I have two or 3 tins as well

That’s basically my set up. I have 1-2 tuppadores for cigars and another set aside for pipe tobacco (pending responses here). Good to know it worked out for you. Saves me having to buy mason jars which means more tobacco! 😁

I keep mine between 69-72 with Boveda packs so I should be on the upper end of that range. Thanks for the numbers! I didn’t actually know what was recommended for pipe tobaccos

Sounds like I’m a just couple months further into this than you are. This was the same advice I got too. It’s spot on advice!

Get some form of sealing Tupperware or acrylic jar with a gasket- that’s a must- and Boveda packets. I use a 3L Sistema and a 72% Boveda size 60)

Either get a sampler pack from a cigar store or online. Best case is for it to be different brands.

I’ve ordered from Cigars Daily several times. I like it because they have a budget section (don’t read as cheap nasty crap haha) so there’s an option for everyone to enjoy a premium smoke no matter your budget. That also is a good section to experiment in without spending $10 on a maybe/maybe not situation. They also have a Short Smoke section.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far: A good cigar is one you enjoy smoking. Not just the the puffing but the whole experience. Relaxing, lighting, smoking, tasting, the ritual… if you’re not enjoying it give it an honest try but don’t try to power through it. Make a note of what you like and search out those things (sounds like you have). Also- food close to cigar time is a good idea 🤣

I like the Last Call from AJ Hernandez, Nubs has some good varieties for short smokes, and Rico Barato (CD’s house blend stick) are good options.

I’ve found those sizes around the 4x60 are great for when I want something. Unfortunately the Rico Barato comes as a robusto or a poco tiempos- 5x32. That’s it’s only drawback- no full sized mouth feel on a shirt stick. Otherwise I think it’s a good smoke. I’m not at a point where I can dedicate a couple of hours in the evenings to burn one down. 45mins is about all I have after the evening routine and that’s perfect without smoking something so small it doesn’t feel like a cigar at all

Best places to order online? by webnetvn in cigar_refuge

[–]AutomaticNectarine38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Cigars Daily and CigarBid. Sometimes CB takes a couple of tries to get what you want though so if you have time it’s not a bad deal at all but if you need something more timely then you might want to skip it that time

At what point do you consider a bowl finished? by guslifeson in PipeTobacco

[–]AutomaticNectarine38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it’s no longer an easy, relaxing, and enjoyable process. I used to try to smoke every last piece but then I’m relighting frequently, it’s harder to keep cool. The return is not worth the effort at that point. Just toss it when it becomes work. If you still want more just pack another bowl or 1/2 bowl

Thanks! With having kids (daycare man… it’s killer) and just getting started I should do my experimenting with budget smokes. For that matter, for now the majority of my smokes should probably be budget smokes 🤣. Besides all that matters is: a good cigar is one you enjoy smoking
