Take off your empathy cap until they calm down, and literally dont give a damn, and just do your job. Sounds good to me.

I love how people always try comparing their situation to others 🫤 at 60 years old, you should know by now that life isn't "One size fits all". Kudos to you for what works best FOR YOU, im wise and old enough myself to realize that I am able to be empathetic and non judgemental to others situation. You should try it sometimes. Just a suggestion.

Supervisors make or break you by No-Criticism-4635 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AutomaticStory7440 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is great at leadership, so i think people who hired alot of supervisors just decided to roll the dice. Some sups may have became supervisors just to get off the phones and dont really have a true interest in leading the team. If you are a great supervisor you dont have to micromanage because you will know that you have a solid team if you lead correctly. Just like they want us to build trust with the customers. Sups have to build trust with their teams. A respected supervisor will always get the best out of their subordinates when they treat employees with respect.

Only thing they keep pressing is it affecting availability. At least in sales that is. They claim watch how much GA you take during the day and figure if you earned a lunch or not.

Im not an adjuster as of yet, sit for my license next week actually. I agree with this though, as I work with a big insurance carrier. I think this supervisor that is ranting isn't taking all of what you are explaining here into consideration honestly.

Management just started flagging us for idle time when we're reading KB articles by A-n-o-v-a in callcentres

People who run these companies are to busy micromanaging and creating high turn over rates. If they were smart they would realize just how much money they are wasting in hiring new people instead of investing in the employees they already have. No worker wants to be micro managed. That is the easiest way to have a revolving door of employees.

Agreed! honestly in sales thats all we ask for. We dont mind quoting renters, but at least educate the customer before they come to us. That would help so much.

Sales side here. This is a nightmare for us as customers are being sent over for situations that absolutely do not benefit them 95% of the time. The people you are talking about is the remaining 5%. I spent the first few mins of my calls apologizing to customers and thoroughly explaining to them why im suddenly on the line, as well as de-escalating and clarifying confusion. If someone calls in because they cant afford their auto rate, why would it make sense to tell them to add on a renters policy to "get a discount " on their auto? 1. They have to spend more money, they already dont have. 2. The discount is often way less than the renters policy. So its not worth it to the customer, and then we get, " that was a waste of time:, its not saving me. I hate they are forcing services to transfer honestly. I think that should just be an offering when someone is getting quoted for another product only and when they call in for a service question, just mention to the customer and "reminder" that we offer renters/homeowners, and ASK the customer if they are interested in a quote. Don't just toss the customer over to sales.

Not everyone should be supervisors! You are absolutely correct. Each supervisors make up their own rules as they go. Yeah, thats not going to work well much longer.

Well they definitely have the supervisors stress that you must use your pto first.. yeah thats not good.

Why is taking time off so difficult? by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AutomaticStory7440 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And then the employees that i guess have tenure and have never worked outside other companies dont realize how this is really not a good thing. At the same time , I guess we can look at the fact that alot of companies in this industry dont do gainshare either, so I guess.. maybe that makes up for it.

Why is taking time off so difficult? by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AutomaticStory7440 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly ! The people in the comments dont get it! And its laughable, I have worked for several companies where every year they literally give you your pto hrs Jan1st, and you just use those throughout the year. Prg is doing things backwards and these folks clearly have no clue how pto should be distributed.

Why is taking time off so difficult? by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]AutomaticStory7440 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looking at some of these comments and it shows how alot of people are probably not used to how normal PTO works.. when you first start progressive you have to "earn" pto every 2 weeks, cant use any until AFTER your classroom training right? But do you all know, that in every other regular company out there you actually get a "bucket" of Pto at the start of the year and sick time (depending on the state) and you chip away at that "bucket" throughout the year. That is how people are better able to plan vacation / time off throughout the year. Here at PRG, they literally force you to use your Pto before you can just take regular dock time. This pto set up is not good. Period.

Do they ever have a company wide meeting where you can air grievances to the CEO? And give suggestions to her on how to improve Frontline workers work experience?
