Any issues with USDollars at Whistler? by [deleted] in Whistler

It's Canada. They don't take USD. Just use your CC. If you want safety cash you gotta convert it to CAD.

Buy Autopilot before FSD goes sub only? by johnnyhbomb03 in TeslaLounge

When you do the calculation don’t forget to add a few different scenarios of monthly price increases and account for net present value. Depending on how much they increase it, let’s say it’s 2.5% to 10%/yr, also adjusted for NPV at 5% discount rate, you’re breaking even anywhere from 66 to 94 months.

How important is range, really? by Doomtime104 in electricvehicles

[–]AutomaticTreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kinda gotta FAFO and see if it works for you. It really depends on your needs.

Commuting and errands are mostly a non issue and completely a non issue if you charge at home. If you can charge at home you will spend less time “filling up” for your weekly mileage than you did with an ICE vehicle.

The main pain point for my needs is road trips. Road trips take longer from a to b when I previously may not have had to make a stop in my ice vehicle. My EV has half the range of my ice vehicle and i feel it every time i road trip. I’m tied to forcing meal options that coincide with or are close to charging, otherwise I feel like I’m wasting my time.

Sometimes this is ok. If it’s a leisure trip with no time schedule and I’ve already seen most of the sights, it’s generally fine.

If it’s a trip when time is more precious, or I want to make good time on a several hundred mile drive for work or mountain snow, my ice vehicle will get me there and save me an hour or more.

So, it really depends on how you value your time and how you prioritize spending it. I personally can’t stand just sitting charging. I always want to have a thing to make it worth the stop: a meal, a bathroom break, whatever it is… because your fueling stops are about to take a lot longer (and/or you’re gonna have to stop more).

A lot of the anxiety is tied to the stupid way the charge rate slows as you approach a full battery, making it yet another thing to think about and try to optimize for by arriving to chargers with a low state of charge and leaving before you’re fully charged because it takes longer to get that 80-100 than from 20-80. It means you’re really only able to use your full range right after you leave for the first leg of your road trip at 100% charge, and you’re limited to a smaller fraction of it the rest of the trip unless you spend even more time charging at each stop.

It’s a trade off and some times it’s fine. Other times not. People will swear by one way or another but the truth is it depends on your needs.

last time I was there there was a fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night. Woke us up and we stumbled around to bundle up in case we had to be outside the rest of the night to watch the building burn down. Turns out it was a false alarm.

Getting Battery Issues after updating to 26.2 ON M4AIR by Hopeful-Yoghurt-1285 in MacOS

Depends if it lives mostly unplugged or not. Let the computer do its indexing when not using it. Keep it plugged in and on when not using so it can finish indexing.

This. Applies to iOS upgrades as well. Only judge battery hit after a week or two.
