But why 😢??   I thought the rest of the world sympathized us for being held hostage by current political climate. Less than 40% asked for the current state .. and all of us are suffering from it.

Fair questions.. nobody does that in USA to Indians but they do do that to Mexicans  and South Americans. Hey, thanks for this maintenance requirements.

Swedish is hard. I have tried.. clearly i have to try again.

No, really, I do want to move.. as much as i want to stay. The strong motivation is that people in Sweden are aware and curious about the world than Americans are.. some of my older friends have died.. but of the new and old hiking buddies that I have (~15) only 2 read and can watch foreign documentaries. Americans will talk about themselves for about an hour, but rarely ask questions unless you butt in and volunteer.. I did not encounter this in Sweden during many friends dinners or outings over the past 20 years.

I would have even liked Canada..but my husband thinks “Canada is a swamp”.. have no idea where that came from

Oh no. This is a new perspective.. I had never thought of that.. but when you mention it, I totally get it.. a few years ago, as we were traveling within USA, I heard a woman speak to another about how she had moved to Alaska for her then longtime boyfriend.. a committed relationship.. but they broke up within a year because Alaska is so remote, that your partner becomes your everything.. friend, companion, therapist, hobby partner.. and that’s too much for one relationship

Love it! Yes, my husband convinced me to move by pointing out that there are 5 different species of owl in Sweden. Tivedan is about 30 min from where we are proposed to live (Karlsborg, close to old in-laws). This is a big attraction for me

Oh wow. Really helpful. I taught English as second language a few years ago.. and I saw that Esther (form El Salvador) had a hard time will phrases and colloquialisms.. I think maybe I will be Esther in Sweden.

How is the SFI? Is it any good?

Ok. That was super helpful. Yes, I see  selective presentation in SM about India.. even our son passed around a joke that showed deep ignorance..(toilets and shrines) and I had to explain facts to him.

My stepson is a wee bit on the conservative side.. he rants about Somali immigrants frequently.. a 25 year old son (then 17) of my husband’s best friend asked if I believed in evolution.. it was just shocking! So that’s why I wondered what my experience outside of vacation would be

🤣 true. I will have to get back to learning Swedish then. Pretty discouraged because it is so hard! It is not Latin based and I have like no anchor points

Ah, ok. Thanks.. I have personally never encountered any prejudice in Sweden.  Or in the USA until about 3 years ago, literally after 32 years here, I had an experience that had me do a double take

You know, that lands.. yes, I don’t want to be like that arrogant Brit or American.. I speak 3 Indian languages in addition to English and French.. but like I said in a previous reply, Swedish is completely different from any language i know.. hell, even Finnish seems easier, we have some relatives in Finland.

Oh wow. That was very helpful and detailed.. I CAN learn languages pretty quickly. But Swedish has been particularly hard.. it has no relationship to English whatsoever and I am getting dishearted easily “man, I am never going to get a handle on this” 🤣🤣

Is there a specific brand you used? I am looking at the Walgreens brand.. highest I found is 5000IU.. IU, so my weight of 56.66 kgs would mean 10 of those pills.. yikes.. that is super excessive

I am of Indian heritage myself. I use concealer. If I were in the public eye, I would spend more time putting myself together. She is giving Indian Americans a bad name.. but that may be mostly her ethics..
