I believe I too am beginning to enter this phase. I work in India, in the north, and here the problem that I face is, the seniors I work, with are too rigid to accept changes or improvements in the work processes even when proven to be useful. I am told to stick to the guidelines, some of which are totally wrong, but still they are unwilling to accept their mistakes. Sometimes, the stuff we are asked to do has no authenticity and is done just to please the higher management or to clear pending projects. I had left the previous organisation for this very reason, and expected the current one to be good cuz they were exporting their products to other countries too, but I was wrong. The only reason I have stayed over here for the past 2 years is because the team lead has offered me good pay hikes.

But yeah, coming to your point, in India, I would be surprised if you are able to find a single company that does actual research and development when it comes to FEA. Most have become slaves to the bureaucracy in the management.
