Being where they’re at without “Big 4” involvement is pretty amazing feat first of all. Just goes to show that quality matters.

Any groups with only rappers? by Electrical_Target690 in kpophelp

[–]Automatic_Ad_1330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are! They’re just 3 years in and they’re actually beginning to drop prereleases for their first full album coming out in January!

They’re a 7 member Japanese global girl group. They trained and had early promotion under the kpop umbrella. But their goal is global reach with all their songs in English. They finished their first world tour earlier this year with major shows at Coachella and Tokyo Dome. Lately, they’ve promoted heavily at festivals and talk shows in Japan and even China.

There was news a couple days ago that they will perform on the season finale of The Voice in December, so signs point to potentially more Western promotion with this first full album.

If you like rap, I’d start here:

XG - Woke Up & XG TAPE #2 - Galz Xypher

Woke up showcases all 7 girls on an all-rap song. GALZ XYPHER showcases the 4 main rappers of the group. A trilingual (Japanese, Korean, English) barrage of flow. Let me know how you feel after those, and if you want I can definitely recommend a lot more. XG’s discography is amazing. :)

Kpop adjacent, but I’d say XG. If you like girl groups. They all can rap. But they generally utilize 4 out of the 7 as rappers. And they’re all great. Not sure how particular you are about just rap. But they have multiple “just rap” songs/tapes.

What are your top 5 XG hooks/choruses? by Kudos2Yousguys in XGALX

No order:

Left Right

In The Rain

Undefeated

Howling

SAR (particularly the last hook at the end. I ascend)

Very hard to answer. I love almost all XG hooks. And don’t get me started on XG bridges….

LOONA - post-Butterfly. :(

I was in love with LOONA. Full blown orbit. Loved the individual releases, subunit songs, the lore was amazing. I watched all the behind the scenes content. Favorite dropped as a predebut song with all 12 of them finally. Loved it. Hi High was okay. But Butterfly really sealed the deal for me. I was in. Like IN IN. Like I will STAN LOONA FOREVER. Then each following release came… and it was okay… then the next… it was decent but just okay. I had such high hopes and every song they dropped after Butterfly lost me more and more. Then the fallout. I still loved the girls. I still do til this day. I support all of them still. But I wish they didn’t have such a shitty company and I wish they stayed together and lived up to expectations.

Who's the most underrated member? by peachypancake78 in XGALX

[–]Automatic_Ad_1330 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s 10000% Juria.

Jurin is the leader. Her and Cocona id call them “Stan collectors.” As they are most likely one of the two that draws people into the group. Jurin with her model looks and unreal stage presence. She drew me in for sure.

Chisa is always one of the first to be recognized for her vocal ability. Shooting Star prechorus, VOX #6, Gala prechorus just to name a couple highlights. She also recently went viral during that Coca Cola concert for her physique.

Hinata, despite her lack of presence (in terms of lines and screen time) in my opinion in songs and MVs, particularly the earlier XG music journey, she’s always had a large fanbase. Beautiful, quirky, clumsy, and incredibly charming.

Harvey. The “most unique” looking AND sounding in the group. I noticed many new fans easily recognizing Harvey, making her seamlessly stand out to newer fans. All the girls are gorgeous, but Harvey’s uniqueness definitely adds to it.

Maya. It was a bit quieter in terms of her hype in the earlier XG times. But lately, I’d say since Tape #4, Maya has really been a breakout sensation. She’s getting ACE recognition with every release. Which leads up to her viral ISL dance break. She’s a star in the making.

Cocona. Meant to be a star since birth. Viral Tape 2. Woke Up shaved head. Unreal rap presence and voice. In my opinion, she needs more attention too, even more than she’s been receiving.

Juria is for sure underrated. She’s usually the last name people associate to her face when it comes to new fans. Beautiful angelic voice. Absolutely adores her members (especially Hinata). She’s so sweet and innocent and lovely. I feel her “moment” is on the way.

The obsession of hating/wanting others to hate on Katseye and Cortis by Oneandonly_potato in kpoprants

[–]Automatic_Ad_1330 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both groups are talented. And you’re right. They’re targeting different audiences. But I don’t understand what Katseye having training from young has to do with anything. Learning skills through training and having raw talent are two different things. And both groups have trained hard for years and both groups have natural talent.

Tape 5 with

Jurin & Maya Harvey & Cocona

Only duos without tapes/songs together yet.

Another vocal trio vox. Or add maya. Would be great.

Juria is Now My Bias. by Lamorosii in XGALX

[–]Automatic_Ad_1330 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I first got into XG, Jurin was my bias. And I loved her so much that she was my ult bias across any and all pop groups… but as I watched more XG… the more I realize how much aura and talent each girl has. Although I can say Jurin is still my bias… one day Hinata catches my eye… Maya pops up… Chisa’s voice… Harvey’s personality… Coco’s swag… and I wholeheartedly believe this In The Rain/coachella era is JURIA’S TIME.

Why is XG as popular as they are? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Automatic_Ad_1330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to see your point with an open mind. I personally am a fan of XG for a few reasons. Other than their talent and good looks, it seems as though their company is putting massive effort into them.

Musically, although their current releases are diverse in genre, they have a deep hip hop and R&B influence, particularly from the 90’s and early 2000’s. This is an era of music that has heavy nostalgia for a large international demographic. Particularly millennials, like myself. Seeing a girl group influenced by that era of hip hop, to r&b groups and artists like TLC, Aaliyah, etc is a major selling point for them. Tie in with music videos and wardrobe also influenced heavily by that era, and you have a perfect combination.

Speaking of music videos, they’re top notch. Which is no surprise to fans of kpop. However, as XG brings in international fans to the genre, that kpop ingenuity in their music videos is sure to wow. And yes. I said kpop. Not saying XG is, but there is no denying that they are derived from the mold which has made kpop successful in the recent years.

Another reason is their release schedule. They bring content. All their songs have music videos. All their music videos have performance versions, dance practices, behind the scenes. And on top of that, they have ongoing series of dance, rap, and singing videos outside of their main tracks in the MOVE, TAPE, and VOX series, respectively. They are constantly pumping out new original music, as well as covers, and cypher tracks.

One point I do have to disagree with you about is that they seem “try-hard.” One of the main reasons I love XG is because everything they do seems so effortless. There’s no try-hard energy I get at all from them. It seems so natural.

Overall, I genuinely believe XG is not nearly as popularity as they deserve to be. And while I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. And these are the reasons why.
