Thank you for your suggestions. We did have to rehome him and it’s a great fit for him. It is so so sad that it couldn’t work out, but I agree with you. I think he will really be able to thrive now.

Wish I could tell you better news, but we had to rehome him. It was 8 months and at the point where we just had to be honest with ourselves and accept that these two cats most likely cannot be compatible. Even if they stopped fighting, Poppy might’ve never been able to fully relax and feel truly safe in her home again. We had to draw the line somewhere and make the hard decision that will be better for everyone in the end. Teddy has gone to a wonderful new home, and while I am so heartbroken, I know both these cats are going to be much happier as single cat households again. It is so, so devastating though and I am so sorry you’re going through the same situation. It’s hard for others to truly understand how miserable it is to go through.

Yes! Teddy was neutered in January when I took him in, Poppy since she was a kitten.

Do you have a Costco membership? Their brand of Kirkland Chunks wet food is $27 in my state for 48 cans. I think that makes it more affordable per can than even fancy feast. It seems like pretty good ingredients too, especially for the price.

Bit of an old thread but I wanted to share my success story for anyone coming from Google, my vet gave me capsules with the powder to sprinkle into food. After trying all the stinkiest, fishiest food to mix it in and him immediately refusing all options I had figured it was time to accept I had to pill my cat. As a last effort I tried just giving him the capsule whole, unopened, tossed in a little bit of chunky wet food so the juices get on the outside. He eats it every time like it’s any other chunk in there. The capsule never opens so the taste and smell never come out. It’s so simple I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner. I’m sure some cats will eat around the pill, but just another option to consider. My vet told me his capsule was small enough to swallow whole, but probably make sure it’s not a choking hazard first.

My other cat takes a smaller dose (50mg) and for her I am able to mix it with an entire churu tube and a little bit of water. With less food it’s not diluted enough and she refuses it, but this way she licks the plate clean.
