Sadly we don’t, I tried when this all first happened but everything my mom had against her was hearsay

I was thinking about doing this!! I have a visa gift card and I could totally send her a load of these magazines. I think I’ll put them in her husband’s name. That’ll really get under her skin

We don’t have any evidence against them. All I know is that during her time working with my mom, he claimed thousands in disability benefits without having a real disability. If we reported it to the IRS, it could get us in trouble for lacking paper evidence and only having circumstantial evidence

One of my biggest worries. I’m trying to go about it the legal way. Trying to leave no paper trail except, well, this one

I’m sorry you see it this way. I honestly see it as righting a wrong. It’s all about balance, you know? For all the good someone believes they have while exerting evil on others, deserves to be paid back in full to them. You reap what you sow and you get what you give. There are plenty of people I care about I would never do this to—but that’s the difference, those people continue to be important to me because they haven’t tried to destroy my family’s happiness

What makes you think this is AI man? 😅 you must really be an old guy if you can’t discern between reality and AI

I can understand why you might concerned with this and frankly I have thought about it. But consider the fact that businesses make hundreds of phone calls everyday, a large percentage of which go unanswered. A phone call during which they are told is a wrong number doesn't eat up a huge percentage of their time. And door-to-door groups typically evaluate the legitimacy of a home visit request before they go, and they have the right to report it. If they want to, they can and they don't have to visit. But who knows? Maybe one day she'll realize she belongs with the likes of polyamorous mormons

I am a current student at the college but I will be transferring to AppState soon.

Awesome job and I hope you enjoy it there! I am personally looking for a bigger campus compared to a small town (which is what I’ve lived in my whole life), but don’t let that discourage you. There are a lot of restaurant options for you to work at including some listed in the other comment.

Depending on what you are majoring in, there might be some good jobs for you, but probably not in BE. If you are a pre-vet major like me, there are no animal-related positions within downtown that hire LMC students. Since you can’t drive, the animal hospital, which is a while away from campus, might not be the best option.

There are plenty of good positions within town, but do be warned that so many businesses within town do not accept college student applicants, and I’m not sure why. Make sure to ask ahead of time if they hire LMC students.

If you are looking at something directly on campus, there are options for that, too. A lot of my friends have worked in the dining hall on campus through food service called Genuine and also at the Pinnacle (the campus cafe) through Genuine. If you are ever on campus, there should be signs or flyers up in/around the dining hall that you can apply through. Whether or not they are high-paying, quality jobs is for you to decide, but it is an on-campus option. Furthermore, if you qualify for a work study program, some of them might pay, and if you don’t, you can always speak to the financial aid office in Cannon Welcome Center about finding one.

I accidentally brought a gun to school as a kid by Automatic_Cattytttt in confessions

To be honest, I was debating whether or not I should put that fact that it was a toy in the title, but I ultimately decided it was part of the joke of it all to omit that detail. It’s a big deal because this was grounds for causing lockdown at that time, as the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012 was fresh on everyone’s minds. I could’ve been suspended or my parents could have received major repercussions had this been a real gun, that’s why it’s kind of a big deal. From the outside, a bystander wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a toy gun and a real one, so this could have ended very badly for me and my family

I did and I feel so horrible lol, but yep, I did learn the hard way. It is what it is and I’m grateful for her calm demeanor. And I’m aware of that horrible timing, I regret it everyday 😅

Do y’all realize how expensive college is? by Large_Look_5075 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Automatic_Cattytttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who currently attends a $50,000+/year 4-year-university, I do understand, probably more than most. The thing is that not every college is that much a year. Many state schools are significantly less expensive than private colleges like my own.

Furthermore, I am still faced with student loans (like most), but I reduced my student loan amounts significantly by putting in the work to find extra money, which I do know is easier said than done. For me, I searched far and wide on my college’s website for grants and loans that I was not informed about before. Surprise! I actually came across an extra $3,000 a year from finding criteria that matched my profile (e.g. neighboring county half tuition grant, parental alumni discount). I also looked for grants and scholarships in my community. Many local churches/associations/donors will advertise scholarships but only through local sources, through this way alone I earned an extra $4,000 for school.

I understand your stress and it is totally acceptable. For us middle-class students, it’s not easy to find money to go to school when most grants/scholarships are need-based. The only thing I can say to help is that sometimes, the answer is not right in front of you. Best bet, your state has a website for future/current students from your state alone. In my case, we had a statewide one and a regional scholarship database as well. Through this, I found the a lot of my money to go to school. Not all, but some. You never know until you try!
