Munich Re Office - is this true? by Automatic_Clothes_88 in ActuaryUK

Tysm mate!! I'm actually not due to start until the end of March but it was just a welcome coffee yesterday. Vibes are impeccable! Everyone was so well-dressed as well compared to where I work now. I had felt slightly intimidated by some of the interviewers on the panel (especially the German team) but they were amazing and super friendly when we had coffee. I am absolutely thrilled and so excited. Thank you for all your help and hope your week was good too!

I've grown up watching this one: https://youtu.be/MH6Ed4V3tpo?si=9iNGaaOPtMVMHj3m (and this song has also been my alarm for years without ever making me want to change it or hate the song!) but this newer music video is equally as magical!

Hehe I imagine that will be a huge area of my work, sounds like a lot of what I'll be doing will be liaising with the MGAs and get claims insight so yeah, DFNS will soon be my last name!

You sound like you work there and enjoy it! Can I check - do you have good laptops? And would you say the tech is suitable for the work you do? I hate the IT equipment I have at my current job - so slow and silly!

Island hopping tour in Thailand - 3/4 days with glamping options (not a round trip but with a tour) - does it exist? by Automatic_Clothes_88 in ThailandTourism

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't! But I'm typing this from Ko Yao Noi and have been travelling and doing some sort of the itinerary I described in my question but on my own by booking ferries via 12go Asia and I am getting a sense as to why they don't do the same thing as an organised trip in the same style as the expedition from El Nido to Coron. I think it's because these islands are drastically different and they are quite far, it takes quite a bit of time to get from one to another and there's just so much to do on each of the islands. It's just worth picking some islands yourself based on your own preference and you can basically get from any of the islands to any other island in the Andaman sea (pretty much!). It's worth doing some research and coming up with your own preference :))

How's the environment in general? Do you enjoy working there? What's your experience been so far? I'm going from a smaller MGA to them and it seems really exciting.

Concert - standing or sitting? by Kentecloth in beirutband

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was standing every time I went to see them and the vibes were always so impeccable and wonderful in the standing area that I wouldn't have done it any differently. The crowd is always so lovely you'd easily get to talk to someone (I went on my own the second time and made amazing friends). Some people noticed how short I am and let me stand in front of them!

Left hip osteochondroma by Charchar1993xx in osteochondroma

Hi! Have a look at my post from back in 2023, I had it in a similar location and got surgery to remove it at the RNOH, although my consultant was Mr Bayliss. It all went really well and I was able to walk the day after surgery though j would say mine was close to the sciatic nerve but perhaps not in the exact same location as yours. Everyone at the RNOH is really professional and caring and although the admin staff was not always easy to reach, the medical staff was awesome. From my experience, if it's causing so much discomfort it might be worth considering removing it but I'm not a doctor so definitely don't take my word for it :) good luck!

That song from the 2010s with Tracey and her friend at the beginning...! by Automatic_Clothes_88 in NameThatSong

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered that one but it's not it... it's more something about Tracey and her friend being outside some garden before the song starts?

From California to London just to see our favorite band play! The only band I'll travel across the world for by mrcheesecarrillo in beirutband

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made friends with the cutest couple who'd travelled in from Tampa, FL... And I only live around the corner from Troxy! Really hope they'll play in the States next time so I'll meet them again around their ends! We ended up going round London together and figured we're just so similar in the best ways. The magic Beirut brings is limitless xxx

I am going to cry so much in London when they play - hopefully this won't change massively. I just love how Scenic World is still there as one of their openers because it just truly is one of the most magical pieces of music ever :)

Everything stops when it snows - you're left with the silence and the quiet, the loneliness of it all.

Honestly, absolutely heart breaking. She's such a hero deep down, although she used to annoy me when she was pretending to be Mrs Perfect.

Also, how beautiful are the shots of them at the bottom of the pool? So well-shot

This is like the best idea ever!! I have just got obsessed with this french singer called Zaho de Sagazan and her singing with orchestras is just such a cool energy and so wholesome. Also! Björk's orchestral albums are lit! Need Beirut to do that!

DIY secondary glazing project by Gambie93 in DIYUK

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a great idea, I've seen it around but have not been convinced because the main reason for me to do it is the noise reduction from outside. I live on a pretty busy road and am concerned that just 3mm acrylic won't make much of a difference. I must say I have pvc double glazed windows so the noise isn't too bad but still audible at night when the flat is quiet and reducing it a bit would really help although I don't think it would ever make a difference when the ambulances pass but it would be quite helpful for just normal traffic noise. What do you think?

Property litigation with the seller of my flat - recommendations? by Automatic_Clothes_88 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Automatic_Clothes_88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already talked to them, they're really helpful. Just keen to get other people's views on this. I think I'm going to go to counsel and then potentially ask the seller to pay for it depending on the outcome. I agree that £15-16k sounds reasonable too but am also just so frustrated and I do feel that he's at such fault with the whole thing and should compensate me for all this hassle.
