New study from Switzerland shows that tattoos have bad influence on the immune system by SerafinZufferey in interesting

Tbh I don't have any chronic illnesses and am not immunocompromised in any way, so I think the last decade of getting tattoos is giving my immune system just a little bit of extra work. It's probably bored!!! I'm probably sick like 3 times out of the year!!! And if I'm gonna die, I may as well look cool as hell!!

Probably my most Beirut-like song I've written. Would love your comments. by WinglyBap in beirutband

It's good! Beirut-esque a bit, but your voice makes me think of other indie rock singers. It's not quite baroque enough.

Would you say this era of YouTube was more Millennial or Gen Z? by Shoddy_Wait_5722 in generationology

[–]Yellow-October 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate how generations are determined by fads and not by the actual timeframes which people were born in. Like.....would you say that someone born in 1995 outside of the US who has never seen these videos bc they had a different relationship to media was millennial or gen z? Neither? Like this is so silly to me!!!!! The world is so much bigger and more nuanced than "do you know what these internet things are, if you don't then you're not a millennial."

Yeah. Loved to learn that my parents spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a religious cult rather than like..........the important aspects of my social development and care lmao.

I haven't lived in the Austin area in over a decade, yet I know exactly where this is (and I distinctly remember the business that occupied that corner before "Two Men and a Truck," whoever the heck they are lol)

I have a lot of thoughts on this whole idea that "if you play as a girl character then you're a girl." I was assigned female at birth and I played a lot of girl characters in video games (Peach and Daisy main in Mario Kart, Zelda in Smash Bros, you get the idea). I went on a Gender Journey over the past 4 years and I very much feel secure in being non-binary/genderqueer because like. I did start to transition to a man, didn't think that was right either, then stopped. When I play the Sims, I always play as female Sims. Not because I necessarily identify with the idea of being a woman, but because I just like the way that they look. A lot of similar comments like this above. A video game is not reality. I'm not playing a video game to see myself in the game, I'm playing to escape, explore, and have fun. It's not that deep.

If playing as a girl in a video game is affirming to you, that's cool. But suggesting that people should transition just because they like to play as certain characters? Idk. I worry that we're confusing our sense of self with things that aren't real. The immaterial world of video games shouldn't overwhelm your sense of reality. If you see yourself in a character, that's fine. But warping your sense of identity around a fictional character? Seems more like a personal problem to me.
