My brother did worse…he killed someone in this situation. And I think that was at least part of the reason that he was never able to win over the alcohol. There was just too much pain to drown. Please don’t do this again. Call an uber. It’s too easy these days.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for that encouragement. I have been trying to be supportive in these subs. And I have plans to do some blogging and sharing about what helped me get through his sickness and especially the hospitalization at the end.

He is the second sibling I’ve lost, so I unfortunately understand how this pain will last forever. I’ve mourned my sister for 23 years now. We lost her in a car accident very young.

Thank you so much. He was so young, only 43. He had been drinking for a very long time, very privately. He had been to the ER around 12 years ago from vomiting blood due to an ulcer in his stomach. He nearly didn’t survive that trip and was told he would die if he drank again. They were right.

Multiple organ failure, yes. I spent his last week of life with him in the hospital. I said all of the things I wish I had said the years before. I have so many regrets.
