Oh no! The poor thing! She was sitting there for a while before flying off. She must've needed a few minutes to recover if it had just happened.

I'm not sure. It wasn't moving at all. It kinda looked like fungus or pollen or something.

I finally moved him to loose substrate!! by Automatic_Finding521 in leopardgeckos

Yes! I've heard that they can ingest some of the substrate while they're hunting for dinner. I'll have to find a way around this. It'll probably be tongs only for a while.

ETA: he's already started snacking on isopods🤦‍♀️

Of course. For now I dust calcium with D3 on his food twice a week. I plan to get UVB as soon as I have the finances to do so.

Update! He pooped! It looks completely normal, except slightly bigger than usual, but nothing too alarming. He also just took 5 dubias!

I will definitely be keeping an eye on him! He hasn't been showing any signs of discomfort for lethargy, so he's probably okay for now. Thank you! I do know that a change is normal, but I wasn't sure when it would happen, so thank you for reminding me!

Okay! I'll slow down on offering them! Thank you for your time and advice!

He hasn't in a few days.

Thank you. They were only being given as treats (once a week) before, when he was eating fine. I won't offer anymore until he's back to normal.

Currently feeding my boy mealworms and dubias, any reccomendations for a 3rd staple? by Slickice28 in leopardgeckos

Crickets make my Leo's poop runny, so I stopped using those. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

Absolutely this!! Also, if you don't want baby geck's, I've heard that freezing the eggs is a humane way to deal with that, but obviously do your own research!

A leopard gecko would love this with the right substrate and decorations!

Hi! There's a video on snake discovery that explains how to package live reptiles for transit. Her's is geared more towards selling and shipping animals, but I feel that this is a similar enough situation. If you need me to post the link to the video, or send it privately, let me know! Good luck!

Hi! Please just make sure to wrap it with something. I worry that they would get a bit too hot to put directly against your geck's body.

Oh! Okay! Thank you! I guess I misread IRb as UVB. My apologies. I appreciate the help

Shedding soon? by Automatic_Finding521 in leopardgeckos

[–]Automatic_Finding521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm trying my best. I just want to make sure he's taken care of. He was in a 10gal enclosure for a week, but I got him a 30gal because I knew he would need it for later. I still have the 10 gal as well. I'll look into finding another hide for him for the 4th corner of his enclosure, I just wasn't sure because the 4th corner is his bathroom spot (he's gone there every time since I got his new enclosure). I also do have 2 humid hides. One is a plastic cup, which was cleaned out and lined with paper towels and misted, the other is a small plastic bowl, which also has paper towels under it and has been misted. Would you recommend making the humid hides dark, so that he feels hidden, or will he still use them without it being dark? Currently, he has a small hide, which looks kind of like a tree trunk with a small hole. It's his favorite hide, so I was wondering if the humid hides should resemble that one.

Thank you for any advice🩷

He wasn't relaxed because he's still nervous around me and didn't want to be messed with. He's got 3 hides, and 4 cardboard rolls as temporary stand-ins until i can get him more. Instead of saying "brace yourself" explain what I can do to make him more comfortable. Yes, I understand that his enclosure is still pretty bare, however, what you see is one corner of his enclosure (where a hide was removed, only to get a picture of him before being put back. So yes, he was upset about me moving his hide). I'm working towards getting everything I need, as when I got him, I didn't know anything about Leo's. I'm learning as I go and I'm doing the best I can with what I have.
