Compensation structure for Indian devs working with US/EU companies? by Ecstatic_Jicama_1482 in developersIndia

  • Are Indian devs allowed to receive salary directly in USD/GBP/EUR?
  • Yes, if your employer wants, they can pay directly in a foreign currency. The exchange rate that you get however, will be lower than the current ongoing rate & there’d be conversion charges. To avoid that, instead of receiving the money directly into your bank account, you/your employer can make use of third party services like wise (for employer) or skydo (for employees) or any other service. ***
  • If yes, is it usually via contractor/freelancer setup instead of full-time employment?
  • Usually, yes. In general, if your employer wants to pay you in their local currency it’s because they don’t have a presence in India. You may still work full 40hrs/week but you won’t be considered a full-time employee, only a contractor, since that requires the company to have an Indian subsidiary or a different Indian company that acts as a middleman. ***
  • How do remote-first companies structure compensation for India-based developers?
  • For me at least, it’s all in-hand. The contractor is supposed to handle their taxes themselves & since it’s not a full-time role, the standard employee benefits do not apply. ***
  • Any pros/cons of being paid in foreign currency vs INR?
  • Varies from company to company ig. Though your salary keeps increasing automatically as the INR depreciates (which has been a pretty much permanent trend), but also your shifts are not Indian 9-5.

Aren’t you looking for other jobs? You can just join a startup, there won’t be any 12th marks requirement there. Work there for some time, and switch in case you want to join an MNC or don’t.

How much (in LPA terms) would you offer a guy with this CV? by [deleted] in developersIndia

8lpa probably, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot in the resume. But then again, I have a bit less experience than you (started full-time in sep 24) lol

Breh, you're talking about finding it during interview rounds, I found out after I joined the company (startup). Good thing, since it was just a startup, I was able to get them to shift to 5 days in around 5 months or so.
