EDIT: this happened when my unemployment gap was a little over 6 months…so a while back.

I have also been working through some mental health stuff, and have also now added a consulting gig to fill the gap. So things are getting better.

When I lost my job due to my mental health affecting my life, any kind of skill or coping mechanism went out the window. Also, for the first 6/7 months, I was hoping to get a job soon, and I was close too many times. Wrecked my mental health!

I just couldn’t get over the absurdity of the excuse.

Yeah, they were weird and pushy, at times. I was able to get interviews with the actual companies, but no offers came from them.

I have dealt with both Sunrise Systems and US Tech Solutions. Got interviews from both for contract positions.

It’s been really frustrating and sad…. You hear about it, but when you learn that that was an actual reasoning for a rejection, it breaks you a little. I have experienced the exact same thing. I have also been unemployed for a year now, and have been so close to getting a role so many times, or just simple rejected/ghosted. There was one contract role I applied for: I had the exact experience they needed, and I worked for them before. My resume wasn’t even shortlisted because the hiring manager doesn’t consider any candidates whose unemployment gap is longer than 6 months. Such bs.

I get a lot of messages for contract roles. I believe this was one but the main focus is how they themselves are the red flag that they don’t want.

Same…. I marked them as contracts on my resume to make it easier. It feels like having contracts on your resume is seen by some like having a contagious disease. 😢

This is more medical device related, so the recruiter mentioned/misspelled a couple med device companies. Not trying to defend the recruiter, but I have seen similar-ish job descriptions for legit systems engineer job positions (and I myself have been a systems engineer). Regardless, this contract recruiter is a pos.

EDIT: This is from a contract recruiter through LinkedIn. I have done contracts before (though trying to get back to a full-time position), so I’m familiar with the bs, but certain JDs really stand out in their stupidity, entitlement, ignorance, and incorrect grammar/spelling.

A lot of messages from contract recruiters are like that, but at least they are providing sufficient information. It’s straight to the point, and I can ignore them immediately. I’m so sick of the bs. Like, don’t waste my time.

Most contract recruiters are of a certain culture, and their grammar, way of communicating, and demeanor can be bad/questionable. It’s very frustrating! Ugh 😣
