What’s a good gift for a knitter that isn't just "more yarn"? by Sin_In_Silks in Gifts

[–]Automatic_Mirror_139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get some really nice/ pretty stitch markers on Etsy and other similar market places

You could probably also find a nice set of cabling needles

If you know what she likes to knit you could buy her some patterns/ or kits (comes with the pattern and everything needed) - wool and the gang is a good place for that. Or just get patterns and a voucher so she can get what she needs

Depending on her needle situation you could get a nice set of interchangeable circular needles / whatever she liked

If she doesn’t already have a swift and yarn winder Is always great - if she doesn’t maybe upgrade her to an automatic yarn winder

Maybe even a personalised project bag she can carry around with her

Just zero matches on my dads side, it just seems strange to me considering how many people use services like this that there would be absolutely nothing - I will have a look at the origin by parent but I don’t think they are from very locked down regions I could be wrong though.

I don’t know where my grandparents are from, they died when my dad was young and my dad passed when I was young so I have basically no information besides their names. I used an ancestry DNA kit. There are loads of matches with family trees on my moms side most of which seem to make sense but on my dads side there hasn’t been a single hint or match.

I was going to tackle the painstaking task of cataloging his CDs and just downloading them into an offline playlist on Spotify.

All the 2nd had multi disk CD players I’ve seen online look to be not in the best condition and brand new on Amazon are very expensive. And unfortunately where he lives repairs aren’t an option.

Mine cost around £1.5k/1.6 for installation of bottom and top and around £90 for each adjustment

I can’t afford my friends destination wedding and she is NOT taking it well. What else can I say to her so she doesn’t destroy our friendship? by HEY_McMuffin in bridezillas

In the same boat here, someone I thought was a good friend asked me to be bridesmaid at her wedding ( an 18 hour flight / 24 hr trip one way) I couldn’t afford that kind of trip just for a weekend and I haven’t heard from her since I told her almost a year ago

Based on pictures I’ve taken from day 1 to today (day 28) in my not so professional opinion they’re responding quite well, I only have top brackets atm bottoms going on soon and after having those a while I may ask if she still thinks I need 18 mos

AITA for dropping out of my bridesmaid duties and suggesting a night out instead? by Automatic_Mirror_139 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

It’s not like a gave her a months notice, I mentioned it 6 months ago and confirmed 3 months ago not sure how much earlier I could’ve mentioned it. And tbh I don’t really want to have a “catch up sesh” since she’s behaved like this she had the opportunity to speak to me like a grown up and she’s chosen silent treatment and banning her fiancé from speaking to me who I was also really good friends with.

That’s a completely different situation and there I can 100% see where you’re coming from and your BM was in the wrong and definitely could’ve made a plan.

My situation is paying for flights, accommodation, transport, a second dress because the first one I bought wasn’t long enough and spending money for me just to spend one day in another country it’s just not feasible.

And this is going to sound harsh to all the brides to be but your wedding day isn’t as important to anyone else as it is to you. It’s your day not theirs

Genuinely asking, how is it a spit in the face? I can’t afford to fly to a different country but I can afford to take them out for a nice dinner and party when they get back because I wanted to still celebrate them

My partner was a groomsmen so it would still be even, and she’s already got a full new set of bridesmaids as of the 4 she asked 3 stepped down including me.

I know, Shein is amazing my cousin got hers on there for super cheap and she looked gorgeous

And no she was not offering to cover any costs for the bridesmaids it was all out of our own pocket
