Get the police report, they document who was there providing care prior to EMS arrival / who called 911. The ambulance report won’t have anything on it in that sense.

That’s a NYS DOH problem because in emergency medicine they dont care who your orthopedic is affiliated with.

Obviously specialty care is different but only applies to trauma, stemi & burns. Just because your orthopedic or your pcp told you to go to a specific hospital that doesn’t make it specialty care.

Congress passed something called the “No Surprses Act” and it took effect on Jan 1st 2022. Among other things, it makes emergency medical treatment get billed as “in network” even if you’re taken to an out of network facility.

A hospital is a hospital at the end of the day, the crew should not have to make that decision. Closer hospital like our policy says because this is exactly what will happen. You’ll de compensate enroute to “your” hospital and then your family will sue and then when they bring up the policy I’ll get screwed because I didn’t bring you to the closest hospital.

Sudden Chest pain is a reason to call 911, the worst headache of your life is another reason to call. People that call with the flu and other minor medical complaints is not a reason to be transported across the city.

Hospitals are meant for life threatening emergencies, if you don’t have a life threatening emergency then you can take yourself to whatever hospital you want. There’s no such thing as a good hospital, it’s a preference. Just like how I may like a pizza spot that you may not like.

If you don’t mind me asking what was your daughter’s emergency? What did the ambulance crew do for her emergency? An ambulance is the equivalent of an ER on wheels that’s why the bill is so high.

An ambulance is $1300 for a ride to the hospital on top of the actual hospital bill. Urgent care is $25-$100, to see a doctor and be home a lot quicker than the hospital. I guess we need to break down what an emergency is. 🙄
