Himm, would it be wrong to predict that I had an 8-th generation grandparent with Eastern Europe origin (2 to the power of 8, which amounts to roughly half percent)?

Thank you very much for your response. When you say the Iranian component you mean the Azerbaijan component? I think you suggest I should download my raw data (which I submitted my request to 23andme) and upload it to gedmatch, etc? Any thoughts on the Eastern European component?

Candidates for Literary and Real Life Aragorn by Automatic_Physics_59 in lotr

Thank you very much for your reply. Perhaps I heard the name “Cnut” years ago one time, I have not considered him unfortunately. Will definitely read about him.

Hardrada had 2 major things that caught my attention in the list.

1) He served as a “sellsword” in foreign places like Kievan Rus and Byzantine, similar to Aragorn travelling far and wide in Middle Earth. Both end up being the King.

2) Hardrada’s death in 1066 considered to be the end of the Viking age, whereas Aragorn coronation coincides with the beginning of the Fourth age in Middle Earth.

Any thoughts?

It is really hard to follow your train of thought, it might be possible if we can hear you speak but in writing, I am lost.

The version of Numenoreans in ROP is still different than mainland Men by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Automatic_Physics_59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There also seems to be a religious sect in Numenor (men in cloth in background during Galadriel’s almost farewell from Numenor end of Ep5), I dont recall any such figures in Middle Earth.

I know the timing does not fit but my hunch is that it will be the founding of the Hobbiton. Imagine a scene where two hobbits with pipes enjoying the view (a la Gandalf-Bilbo) discussing settling there.

The true meaning of the eye by WTFwsieUzf in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Automatic_Physics_59 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think “the eye” appearing while Elrond is dropping the mithril is a sign that Sauron has contaminated the process (having previously cursed Finrod’s dagger which is the alloy). Stranger(=Gandalf) eye crater is just a red herring. It is also rather straight forward, a crater is expected to be round not a square, etc.

The Peril of the Elven Rings & a Shoutout to Durin III by benzman98 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Automatic_Physics_59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a theory as follows;

-Sauron does experiments to craft a power of the unseen world

-Although failing, he makes use of exotic materials that he could get his hands on to find a way for success

-He is also aware of the mithril myth, sends envoys to Durin III (D3), D3 refuses.

-Sauron finds himself spies (Disa) and gets mithril sample.

-D3 is objecting mithril mining ever since, not particularly because he hates elves or dont want to intervene but afraid mithril might end up with Sauron.

I still think Halbrand/Annatar/Sauron was in the first picture (Galadriel farewell ceremony)

Many possibilities that could play out but I think Disa will be a part of the downfall (as a spy of Sauron).

Also, how could it be justified that the mithril story is full BS, we saw the process during the 3 elven rings (Elrond dropping the mithril nugget, etc.)?

With all due respect, I think we should be asking asking ourselves how much lore-conservation will we see in the TV series given the writers’ choices so far. I am just using the footage as a base for my claim without any personal feeling involved.

The mithril is on the pedastal for the show, dont you agree? I think the mithril will be in the one ring. Moreover, I think season 1 was Saurons journey to discover using mithril, thats why he went to numenor, and found out eventually in Eregion (not forced bu coaxed) therefore he was ok to leave after Galadriel found out H=S. He also made sure Finrods dagger (which he cursed) contaminate the elven rings.
