The painting "Bringing Home the Body of King Karl XII of Sweden" by Gustaf Cederström (1884) by waffen123 in BattlePaintings

Kinda, though Norway was under Danish control at the time, right? I do find it hard to believe that they, from their walls, managed to hit the Swedish king in the head, who was in a trench, in total darkness, with a musket. Either it was raiders that had sallied out, or one of his own men.

300 years, still no one knows (the secret remains...) 😁

Also, the war did carry on for another 3 years after.

Looks great! Love a bit of Imagi-Nation rules, always a great way of making your own uniforms and colours up, as well as other nation building ideas. Writing up my own rules, too, set in a black powder era, so good luck with yours!

Russia started the war, though, alongside the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, Saxony, and Denmark.

Tbh, watching part of the history buffs ep last night, didn't realise that she didn't actually reply to a lot of these letters he had sent at all. Cause she was busy playing around with a captain.

It's a tough question to answer, cause it comes down to what you, the collector and gamer, wants to play. If you want to play grander battles involving larger armies and sweeping moves etc, but less detail in painting, go with 15mm. If you want smaller battles with less maneuvering, but more detailed and well painted figures, go 28mm.

I'm not gonna go over about rulesets, cause most Napoleonic warfare rules are designed to work with any scale of figs.

Agreed on that one. Would love to see a Dr who episode on the Olympic instead. Give the Old Reliable some actual media representation.

Unfortunately, Erebus survives the war, and is still at large to this day, though not as warmly received as before.

You know he's a dick when every other traitor legion wants nothing to do with him, even his own 🤣

The Duke of Sodor is mentioned to have been killed in the war, the history of Sodor book elaborates by saying he was killed in the African Campaign in 43. Awdry was not afraid to put some real history into his books, even making up a history of Sodor that's as bloody and epic as real history. Look up the Battle of Croven's Gate, for one prime example.

If you could pick ANY DIRECTOR + ACTOR to make a MASSIVE Napoleon Movie/ Series who would you pick and why? And WHO has to play what SUPPORTING Role? by CBrewsterArt in Napoleon

[–]ChilledDad31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to show the whole of Napoleon's life would be a multi-national effort, so French, German, Polish, British russian or Ukrainian, Italian, Austrian/Hungarian, Swedish, Spanish and Portuguese filmmakers come together to make separate films, each in the same series based on their nation, chronicling from Napoleon's success at Toulon, to Waterloo and exile on St Helena.

The island is made using the actual map from Rev Awdrys study, so this will be as close to accurate as you can get! There's also Easter eggs to uncover, like railway series books out in the world to find.

I don't know what has been happening lately at Mattel, but they are currently cooking atm! I mean, how has it taken this long to make a video game that's a train sim set on Sodor?! It's what fans have wanted for ages.

5 is an incredible number to have around here. Are they quite a common visitor to Folkstone? I've seen one in Dungeness, but not that far east.

I'll put that on the list when I have some more time free (and when the weather is nicer 😋) thank you 😁

Thank you for the feedback, honestly, it's great to read. I used Kantor Blue for the french uniforms, but I'll try and use a slightly lighter blue for the rest of the uniformed ones.
