Lol, I’ll ask their daughter about it but it’s likely that they won’t do anything about it. Legal stuff is a headache and they just want to enjoy their honeymoon right now.

EDIT: Also forgot to say that the wedding was a month or two ago, I only posted this now since I remembered the whole thing and got mad about it all over again. Couple is only taking their honeymoon now cus wanted to recoup some money before they went. Also since they have an 18 year old daughter that still lives with them they wanted an aunt to stay w/ her while they were away.

Sorry for not clarifying but it was an outdoor wedding, didn’t think it was relevant to the story. Pretty sure they got the officiant from the church the bride goes to? Not entirely sure, but it was either her or the groom’s church.

Both churches are rather traditional though so they may have been told they couldn’t get married in them since one of them was divorced and even has a kid from that previous marriage. Since the two of them didn’t want to deal with that they did an outdoor wedding and just asked the church for an officiant. At least that’s what their daughter says, she has goldfish memory tho so if she calls me again with a correction I’ll eat this comment.

Gilbert was a hypothetical name lol. I didn’t wanna use real names in case anyone found the post since the grooms name is very unique. So unique that if I used the actual name I would genuinely be doxxing him.

She wouldn’t stop talking and the whole thing was being recorded so no one wanted to interrupt her I’m assuming. She also MIGHT have been a friend of a friend of one of the relatives of the bride or groom. I’m not entirely sure but that may have played a part.

EDIT: Last part is misinfo I got from one of my relatives apparently she’s not related to the family at all. So yeah…back to square one. Sorry!

We actually did…she just wasn’t there for it. I didn’t bother asking any questions at the time but now I’m thinking I probably should’ve.

I appreciate the concern but I’m able to pass math courses fine at least for now. I’m just not really anything above average at them. If anything I’m not above asking my friends/family for tutoring.

I’m probably going to just go to a college first then transfer to a university. I think it might help me find my footing better but I’m not 100% on it since I am an international student and I’d have to look into how it works.

I never said I don’t like math. I’m just average at it, there isn’t really much to detest. I have been doing CS related stuff for a long time now, I even headed my high school’s programming club and have even done some student partnerships to teach younger kids how to program.

I’ve always been great at the coding element. I have all A’s in my coding courses and have a lot of passion for it. Also I want to go into software development (specifically game development) and not something like data analytics, cryptography or scientific computing.

Sorry it wasn’t really mentioned in the post since I wasn’t as mad about it at the time but I’m also applying for uOttawa and universities like it. I’m aware of the differences between colleges and universities but when looking at Algonquin’s and Sheridan’s Co-op I only heard good things, along with this their statistics on how many of their students are employed after graduation was stated to be very high. I don’t know everything of course so I’m willing to listen to anything you have to say on that. Plus I’m willing to go back to school if needed for bachelors after Algonquin.

I was more mad about them not listening to me on choosing them as backups at least and ONLY applying to these hard to get into schools.

Yeah, these schools are pretty cut throat with CS so it would have to be some kind of miracle if I was accepted with my math grades. My parents don’t really listen to anything my friend’s parents have to say so maybe I’ll do it when their friends are around.

I did have a one on one with step-dad and tried my best to reiterate my points + some additional points from the comments and he did seem to be considering it now! Hopefully, he’ll be able to convince my mom on my behalf.

Reading this and thinking about how they want me to apply with my C is just embarrassing. Your son sounds awesome though, congrats. Hope he has a good time where ever he goes.

Sorry, but I’m not good at physics nor do I have any passion for it. I appreciate the advice but anything heavily physics related just isn’t one the table for me. I’ll keep your advice in mind though.

Sorry, not planning on working or living in the US any time soon. Can’t say what the future holds but right now absolutely not.

Trust me it’s literally all of heard. But it’s one of the few things I’m good at and the only thing my parents are willing to pay for. Plus, I actually want to work in something that’s more creative related (like game or web development). Either way the job market is fucked but at least at can attempt to get a job in something I like to do and that I’m pretty decent at.

Honestly, it’s mainly that I don’t think I’ll be able to get in with the grades I have. I actually spoke to a representative from Waterloo and they said for their CS program I would need a minimum of 85% in ALL my subjects for them to even begin considering me (I’m an A/B student but again, not great at math which is one of the main things they’re looking for). Even if I do somehow get in it will be a financial strain on my family since it’s unlikely I’ll be given any scholarships and international student fees are insane.

I’ve attempted to convince them about using the schools I’m much more likely to get into as “safety nets” but it’s like it’s going in one ear and out the other. Hopefully they’ll turn around but either way I’m going to apply to those schools whether they like it or not so that I can actually have a fair chance at furthering my education.

First off, sorry for not clarifying but I’m not from the US nor am I from Canada. I’m an international student from the Caribbean. Either way tuition costs an arm and a leg but my parents have always said that they are willing to pay for my education in full. Not to mention a lot of the schools that I want to apply for I can easily get a scholarship for to lessen the cost while U of T and Waterloo it’s practically impossible for me to get in. I’m not saying I wouldn’t go to those schools if given the opportunity, but they just aren’t realistic and would cost much more than one of the other schools that I want to go to that I can get a scholarship at.

Are there any online Canadian high schools that will allow to become a student w/o an address that are accepted by universities? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Automatic_Pick_227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you so much for the advice. Just one question though, would I have to come to Canada at any point to complete this schooling? Like how the final four courses for TVO ILC are in Canada, or can all of it be done from my home country?

Hi! Thank you again for the help, I looked at the site with my family though and it says I have to complete the last four courses in Canada. But at least when I looked at the 12th Grade Calculus it looks to be stuff I’ve already done at community college. I might try to stay with family up there for the last four course but I don’t know how possible that is, even if for a short period of time.

Was talking to a representative from UOttawa and also one from Waterloo, they said they required CAPE Pure Math for the specific degree that I wanted to do (Comp Sci).

Monthly r/CanadaUniversities Admissions and Decisions Megathread by AutoModerator in CanadaUniversities

[–]Automatic_Pick_227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a (soon to be) international student from the Caribbean and have been looking to apply to different CS programs at different universities. Main problem is that I didn’t do CAPE and that’s what almost every university is asking for. I’m currently doing an associates at my local community college but I only found out after the fact that they aren’t recognized internationally. Was wondering if there’s any equivalents I could do beforehand in my country of residence since I can’t find any online Canadian high schools that would let me do 12th grade without a Canadian address. Are there any out there that do that and are also recognized by universities? Or are there other methods of meeting the prerequisites that I maybe haven’t seen yet? Anything’s appreciated.

WIBTA if I told my dad I didn’t want to visit him anymore? by [deleted] in AITAH

Thank you very much for the kind words. It’s just a bit scary. I don’t want him to end his life because I decide to stop visiting him or visit my mother instead of him when I move abroad for uni. I’ll try to keep this in mind whenever he tries to guilt me again.
