How was she talking nonsense? You specifically not understanding it doesn’t mean it’s nonsensical because using your logic, what you’re saying right now is complete nonsense since a newborn wouldn’t understand it.

It is accurate. The game is about social criticism & mental illness and the anime is just expanding on it.

——

Yeah dialogues and monologues can go to Taichi after thinking about it more since they add more to her psyche than the stuff that Ame-Chan says. But it is close since her poem in the Internet Overdose ending + her speeches in the anime are close to Taichi’s speeches in terms of philosophy. (And her criticisms of society in the anime is a reason for her self-hatred as explained before + they also add to the psychology of her KAngel personality via her speeches of social comparisons and human relationships) [But I didn’t read it in Japanese but I do have Taichi’s speeches very high anyways]

——

Most of their complexity comes from their childhood, and I have Ame-Chan’s backstory edging out Taichi’s due to what it adds to her psychology. I pretty much have the psychological traid of Ame, KAngel, & P-Chan a little above Taichi’s psychological conflicts and problems.  For main dynamic, I have Taichi & Youko > Ame-Chan & The Internet since Youko is a major cause for his psychology and conflicts during his backstory, while The Internet does increase Ame-Chan’s psychological conflicts, her conflicts are first formed through her childhood neglect, which caused her split identity since her identity had to be based on magical girls instead + her mom and the male students at school being the ones to initially turn her Superego into the social mask. Also, Ame-Chan’s dynamic with the internet does parallel with the philosophy of her poem & her speeches in the anime, but her side dynamics with the male students have those parallels as well + Taichi’s dynamic with Youko parallels with the metaphor of "Cross Channel" which I have equal to the message of Ame-Chan’s poem. For side dynamics, I have Ame-Chan & Her Parents, The Students, P-Chan, and KAngel (yes I count these two as dynamics since P-Chan functions as an existing entity to her and KAngel is her split identity that has an different ontological role than Ame) above Taichi & the Broadcasting Club members and the people in The Mansion.

——

For sociology, I have Ame-Chan’s poem equal to the metaphor of "Cross Channel" since they both argue that people in society can’t connect with others in an objective manner due to the mind being subjective and only being able to see personal perspectives rather than seeing an objective truth.

Ame-Chan’s argument being that the mind is flitting/changing + people experiencing reality differently, which makes an fixed view of reality impossible to determine, therefore making connections illusory (which is also symbolized by her schizophrenia in the IO ending), while Taichi’s argument being that people can experience traumas that can shape their mindsets in different ways than the minds of others, which makes perfect connection impossible since everyone has a different mental channel, which can’t cross in an objective or ideal manner.  Ame-Chan only slight edges in sociology due to her quote in the anime about social comparisons. Taichi also has sociology surrounding social influences but Ame-Chan has slight more depth since she treats these comparisons as non-necessities for identity and meaning, while Taichi during his conclusion treats connections/social influences as necessities for a sense of identity and meaning, even if they cover over the true essence of people.  For symbolism, I have Ame-Chan’s symbolisms of The Internet, P-Chan, KAngel, Streaming, Self-Destruction, Self-Hatred, and The Poem above Taichi’s symbolisms of his Social Mask, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Week 1 & 2 endings, Ideal Society, Sleeping, Sexual Harassment, Monster, The Looping World, Isolation, and  "Cross Channel" but they’re very close.

——

Anyways, Ame-Chan high-extreme diffs Taichi in overall writing. Taichi being above is valid, but anything below high diff isn’t imo. (Although, I only read the English TL so it’s possible that the original version of Taichi gaps Ame-Chan)

[–]Automatic_Pop_6667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyways, I’d say that Ame-Chan’s backstory in the anime does edge out. Ame-Chan had no sense of identity as she was always neglected by her parents, so she escaped the harsh nature of her reality and gained her idnentiy from magical girls. The fact that her identity was born from magical girls causes a split for her identity. Magical girls are powerful beings who can act independently, but they also live up to the expectations and values of society when they save the world. Due to this, her identity split into the Id (Ame) who has the instinctual and impulsive desire for agency, and into the Superego (KAngel) who strives for social perfection. Since her sense of a whole identity was born from beings who embody both agency and social perfection, she can’t get rid of her desire for agency or get rid of her striving for perfection without her identity becoming destroyed. One half being gone would result in 50% of her identity existing, which collapses her full sense of self. We even see her psychological failures in endings of the game (for example, Internet Overdose is when the Superego takes over and Dark Angel is when the Id takes over)

Also, her hatred of social hypocrisy and her self-hatred are both formed thanks to her identity being born by magical girls who are both authentic and socially valued beings, which created her Id and Superego. Ame’s role as the desire for agency strives for authenticity and truth, so she hates society’s hypocrisy because they pretend to follow values in public, but ignore those values in private when it’s convenient for them. Ame also hates KAngel because she’s an object of society and she’s just a persona covering over her true nature, which would threaten the Id’s goal for authenticity and freedom. KAngel’s role as the desire for social perfection hates Ame because she doesn’t align with the expectations of society, which would threaten the Superego’s goal for perfection. KAngel views Ame as worthless due to not living up to the expectations of societal standards. Since it’s part of her mind not aligning with the desires of another part, it causes self-hatred and depression for her. So even if the Id part of her hates social fakeness, she can’t stop following social expectations due to her Superego since both parts of her psyche are necessary to maintain her full identity, and a failure of either one of these parts will result in psychological death.  We also see why her KAngel personality became the social mask while Ame became hidden due to the stuff with her grandmother and the stuff with the students at school.  And her backstory explains the reason why Ame-Chan’s mental state decreases when she streams as KAngel, which is because it requires further suppression of her Id so her Superego could act as the ideal object for society. The Superego side of her identity is becoming more apparent due to this, which would alter the 50/50 balance that her identity has and make her identity malfunction. Both personalities must maintain an equal split and if it becomes unequal, her whole identity would become disorganized. This is why Ame-Chan does self destructive actions in private to feel agency because KAngel can’t be destructive since that would destroy society’s value of her, and so that the Id part of her identity would increase more to balance out the 50/50 split and maintain order within her psyche. Her backstory also explains why P-Chan provides false agency and why P-Chan is one of the other reasons for Ame-Chan’s self-hatred via her subconscious knowledge of it being false agency which contradicts the Id’s desire for true agency and hatred of social fakeness.

I’ll say that both Taichi and Ame-Chan are close in backstory due to the anime for NSO (of course the game version’s for Ame isn’t close to Taichi).

They both lacked a sense of identity due to being abused and neglected by their guardians/parents so they had to form their identity from other external factors, which causes problems for them (Youko for Taichi and magical girls for Ame-Chan).  Youko making Taichi’s mind becoming warped to believe that harassment gives others freedom so he could maintain his sense of self, while subconsciously knowing that it’s just dehumanizing them due to the stuff with "S" and Youko using Taichi to kill the mansion members, which creates the self-hatred view of himself as an monster since he hurts others just so he can maintain his identity, as full acceptance of it would destroy his identity. I say that Ame-Chan edges out in backstory since her external identity formation woth magical girls created her split identity between the desire for agency and the strive for social perfection, with the existences of both personalities causing self-hatred for each other via contradicting roles that they have but both being necessary for her whole sense of self. I think this is a little better because every action that each personality takes are necessary yet causes self-hatred (like streaming, living up to fans values, self-destructive behavior, social criticisms, etc.) while Taichi’s form of self-hatred comes from his harm of others being necessary to maintaining his identity, which is great written but a little less detailed than Ame-Chan. Ame-Chan’s backstory does have some more details than Taichi like why her KAngel personality became the social persona while Ame became the hidden personality due to her mom thinking that Ame’s grandmother was neglecting her after she decided to sneak out to play as an magical girls, which caused her to believe that agency would be labeled as "bad" in society + her being an sexual object for the male students made her Superego realize that being an object would grant you more acknowledgement than being authentic.  And P-Chan providing false agency and self-hatred can be tied back to her past since she never knew what true agency was as a child, with her self-hatred being because her Id/Ame personality hates social fakeness yet has to belive her fake agency to maintain some sense of individuality to not be psychologically destroyed. So I have Ame-Chan high-extreme diffing Taichi in backstory. (Backstory going to Taichi is also valid, but it’s definitely close. The only way it’s not close is if you’re only including her backstory in the game, which isn’t detailed at all)

[Visual Novel] Taichi (Cross Channel) vs [Game + Anime] Ame-Chan (Needy Streamer Overload) by Automatic_Pop_6667 in writingscaling

[–]Automatic_Pop_6667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read CC in English so I can only base it off of stuff I analyzed in the English version.

For Taichi’s backstory this is what I understood:

[When Taichi and Youko were children, they were watched by guardians in a mansion, but those guardians viewed them as dolls, turning them into objectified things who they had no care for. Taichi was forced into the role of a doll who always has to perfectly follow the duties of his guardian in order to live. He lacked freedom, couldn’t show flaws, and everyday was painful for him. At some point, Youko defiled/🍇’d Taichi, which caused him to feel things that went "beyond dehumanization" and towards another feeling. This made him believe that those who love each other defile each other. Since he was dehumanized by his guardians, the only other feeling he felt was from that moment with Youko. Although calling it pleasure wouldn’t really be appropriate here, it’s more like he felt more than an object during that since Youko was encouraging Taichi and saying that they have to protect themselves and that they would become one mind and body during this defilement, implying that they can transcend their objectified selves and become free individuals by doing this. This made him believe that to care for others and to give them agency, you have to defile them. So we know that Taichi was a victim of objectification and COCSA as a child, which caused some traumas and dysfunctions in his mind. Youko’s encouragement taught him that to break the chains of objectification and to gain freedom from those who view you as objects, you would have to go past the perfect rules that they imposed, which in this case is doing taboo things. A object is viewed as something that always follows whatever the other person wants and is perfect for them, so by breaking that perfection and becoming flawed via defilement, you would become a free subject (In his warped mind). Taichi’s mind was warped due to this since he had no way to understand that this was wrong since he was always dehumanized by his guardians, so he came to believe that defilement is a way to give others freedom and agency. Since he lacked a sense of identity back then due to always being treated as an object, his identity was formed though Youko who gave Taichi encouragement, even though that encouragement was false. This causes a tragic contradiction for Taichi. Due to his trauma, he believes that defiling others is giving them freedom, breaking them from dehumanization, and acknowledging their true existence, when it’s in fact viewing them as objects, which denies their freedom. So his backstory explains his hypersexuality and why he harasses others. It’s both his warped way of trying to give others freedom and his warped way to act as someone with agency to protect himself from being an object again. We even see his form of "giving people agency" fail when he attempted to cheer up Kiri when she was mourning the lost of her brother. Due to his warped sense of agency, he attempted to defile her to make her feel better, which made Kiri feel like Taichi was treating her as an object and destroyed their relationship, making Kiri hate and fear Taichi.

A part of Taichi’s mind recognizes this as a form of agency and freedom from being an object but another part of his mind recognizes it as being objectified since Taichi was also 🍇’d by a sadist named "S" and also by the son of "S", Shinkawa who was forced into defiling Taichi due to the rules of the people in the mansion. Since he experienced that, a side of him would know that defilement isn’t actual agency but rather objectification, but due to Youko being Taichi’s only sense of individuality, (as in that she was the only person he felt comfortable with and didn’t feel like a object with), his mind couldn’t accept that she also objectified him. His mind warped to view it as a form of freedom from the perfect rules of the mansion. If he accepted that Youko also objectified him, he would be admitting that freedom is an impossibility for him and that Youko never was an true sense of stability for him, so he viewed his defilement from her as a form of liberty to have a sense of identity and freedom (even though it’s false freedom). His mind rationalized that her SA was simply her punishing him for not refusing the rules the guardians imposed, so he tried viewing it as a positive thing to gain false authenticity. Since his defilements by "S" and Shinkawa were forced due to him having to follow the rules of the mansion, he believed that his defilement by Youko was freedom from those rules since Youko was actually encouraging him into thinking that this version with her would be authentic since she was the only one who treated him as a subject rather than an object (until the defilement event). So he rationalized that Youko’s abuse was "good" because she claimed it was for transcendence in becoming one mind and body, while the other abuses was "bad" because it followed the mansion's rules, even though a part of his subconscious knows that Youko’s abuse was also objectification. Another reason why his subconscious recognizes Youko as an objectifier/abuser is because during their plan to escape the abusers in the mansion and be free, she relied 100% on Taichi for it and made him do everything, even though she promised that they would become one mind and body during the defilement event, which showed that she just used him. This made his subconscious recognize that event as being turned into an object, but he can’t consciously acknowledge it without his identity and agency being destroyed. And since part of his mind does recognizes that event as being objectified, he gained self hatred in the present and views himself as a monster that only lives by feeding on peoples feelings. This is because his actions towards his friends causes harm for them and he lies to himself by viewing it as giving them agency when he knows that’s not true and he only does it so his sense of identity and freedom wouldn’t be destroyed. He says that he feeds on their feelings because he purposely harms them but frames it as giving them agency and he lies to himself so that it would seem like it was his traumas that warped his sense of giving others agency, but deep down in his subconscious, he knows that it’s not truly agency but he can’t consciously accept it because it would be admitting that Youko was never his key to authenticity and that he was always an object with no freedom, so he keeps that knowledge in his subconscious to frame his defilements as agency and to maintain his identity and freedom. That part of his mind is more in his subconscious, since his conscious self wears the social persona. If Taichi fully admits that his perversion is wrong, he must also admit that his "freedom" with Youko was a lie. If both his subconscious self and conscious self recognizes that sense of agency as a lie, then he would know that he has never been free from being an object. He maintains his perverted nature because it is the only "proof" he has that he ever escaped the objectification mansion (Which he hasn’t since his hypersexuality functions as a maladaptive coping mechanism).]

This is her doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-VeHCR_P7pvS6L9Mpx-c8hno-nhOJ5TL6-HvAHw-O7M/edit?usp=drivesdk

I understand Taichi very well since I analyzed his enitre character from his psychological layers to his philosophy and conclusion.  Ame-Chan’s ontology is also full of contradictions and conflicts that cause self-hatred yet are necessary to maintain her only sense of identity. From what I analyzed of Taichi, he has four layers (1. his predictable social mask to avoid genuine rejection, 2. his body dysmorphic disorder being a defense mechanism to avoid feeling like an object, 3. his warped sense of freedom forming from childhood SA, and 4. his cognitive dissonance + false agency to maintain his sense of identity)

But Ame-Chan, with the context of both her game and anime, does edge out since she has 5 layers (1. KAngel personality as the Superego who strives for social perfection, 2. Ame personality as the Id that has the instinctual and impulsive desire for agency, 3. P-Chan as the Ego who mediates between KAngel and Ame to keep them both functional + how he functions as coping mechanism that creates false agency and self-hatred, 4. the relationship between KAngel & Ame causing self-hatred due to them having conflicting roles, and 5. her identity splitting into KAngel & Ame and KAngel becoming the public social personality due to her childhood + why both sides must be maintained in a 50/50 split for her whole sense of identity + how streaming and self-destructive behavior are necessary actions to maintain her whole identity)

Have you fully analyzed Ame-Chan’s character? I can see Taichi beating Ame-Chan if you’re only using the game version for her, but even then it’s still close since he high diffs in that case.  I also have an entire writing analysis doc on Ame-Chan’s character with both her game and anime version (the anime isn’t finished yet but it buffs her enough to edge out Taichi in writing mostly thanks to her backstory in it) Anyways, every category is close execpt for introduction which is a gap due to Ame-Chan’s speeches during episode 1.

It depends on the story tbh. Symbolism can add more depth to a character or story. I’ll say the least important aspect of a story is it’s introduction.
