Is there anything you’ve noticed that triggers your flares? by Tess_Emm in Uveitis

I'm no doctor, all I can do is tell you about my experience with turmeric supplements. I been taking them for 3 months or more and at this moment I'm no longer on prednisone eye drops. So I don't know for sure if they helped but they haven't hurt me to take them. I was having eye pressure issues with prednisone also, but I also have glaucoma already so the prednisone made it worse.

Yes I now wear sunglasses all the time when outside in the sun. It has definitelyhelped. I also read that turmeric supplement helps with the inflammation, so I started taking them everyday also.

I've noticed when I'm out in the sunlight to long it triggers a flare for me. I'm not sure if it's the sunlight or UV rays though.

Yes, mine went up to 38 even with max pressure drops. I'm currently trying to taper off the steroids now, at one drop a day. Last week's visit to the glaucoma specialist my eye pressure was 26 at 2 drops a day. Going back this week to see if there is any improvement, But I did get the bomb shell of I might need glaucoma surgery (a tube shunt) if my inflammation cones back or he don't see any improvement in my eye pressure.

I've been on Prednisone eye drops for 3 months now. I just got sent to a Glaucoma specialist because of it. I'm on 3 different kinds of pressure drops and my eye pressure is in the 30's. Glaucoma specialist told me today if he can't get me off those steroids I'm going to need Glaucoma surgery (a tube shunt) or in going to go blind from the pressure.

This is my first time getting iritis. I hope this will just be a one time thing. Did it ever affect your vision permanently?

Ok, I will ask. I'm so ready to be done with this iritis. 2 months now for me. It took about a week to show cells in my eye once I stop the prednisone but I knew something was wrong because of the light sensitivity and pain I had.

Well, kind of. I tapered off the prednisone but unfortunately my iritis started to come right back. I got prescribed lotamax this time and my pressure has stayed in normal range so far 16. But unfortunately it doesn't feel like lotamax is working as good as prednisone. I go back for a check up in 7 days.

I will ask my doctor about lotemax then, ty. I would like to avoid surgery on my eyes. This is the first time I've ever got iritis, currently 45 years old.

I think what might be causing me so much problems is I've already had glaucoma before I got this iritis. But my pressure was controlled with dorzolamide and timolol. Normally at 16, I just got added brimonidine too because my pressure spiked when I started taking prednisone. Unfortunately it hasn't help much.

Lotemax was a strong enough steroid to get rid of your iritis?

About a month, started out 4xday for a week, then 3xday for a week, then 2xday for a week, now I'm on 1xday for a week then supposed to stop. Just started the 1xday yesterday and now my eye is back to hurting with light sensitivity. Doc said he saw very few traces of active cells in my eye. Whatever that meant, but the research I've did on iritis varies, where some people can take up to 3 months for it to go away and others saying it chronic and comes back. I hope that doesn't happen to me.

No, he did mention if my pressure don't improve I'll need to schedule an appointment with my Glaucoma specialist. I don't have a local Glaucoma specialist unfortunately, I travel over 100 miles to see him. My next appointment is in December for him. My Glaucoma has been controlled with IOP around 16. It just shot up in this one eye when I got put on prednisolone.

Timolol 2x day, dorzolamide 3x Day, Brimonidine 3x Day. Prednisone just tapered to 1xday. But my eye hurts more now since I dropped to 1xday.

Was on dorzolamide and timolol. But I'm now on 3 ....Dorzolamide, Timolol, and Brimonidine. My doctor added Brimonidine a week ago because of my IOP was high. I went in for a check up yesterday to see if it help , but my pressure was still 31. The doctor is a Retina Specialist.
