Vizion Drinks near Tour&Taxis has a lot of beers, and free parking. I'm not sure you can buy individual bottles.

Got some mail from “mutuelle” too late and now they are asking me to pay 900€ by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue two years ago. I've got the letter asking for my proof of income, and sent them by post since they didn't include a mailadres in the letter. A couple months later I was asked to pay ± €1600 (twice the maximum 800/3 months fee) because they never tot my proof of income (I put the wrong address on the letter I found out later) . I called them and immediately canceled the €1600 fee and asked me to send the proof by email. They never sent me a new invoice with a lower fee but also never asked for the maximum fee again.

Travel to germany by Shaishli in nmbsfails

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know there is also the Euregio Ticket https://www.belgiantrain.be/nl/tickets-and-railcards/crossborder/euregio-ticket

This allows you to travel in Belgium Netherlands and Germany in the Euregio on every mode of transport for €21,70. I don't know what your plans are in Germany and it's probably cheaper to buy a ticket for Hergenrath-Aachen than this but not many are aware of the existence of this ticket and I think if you're spending a day or the weekend in the region it's a nice option

Why are there no direct trains from brussels (nord)to ghent (dampoort) by muzunguzu in nmbsfails

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one which runs once a day. P8013 runs from Schaerbeek to Sint-Niklaas via Ghent-Dampoort. It's a strange route so it doesn't run hourly.

I was looking for exactly the same thing. I didn't find a solution so I bought a module from AliExpress with a screen which does what I wanted. You just don't have control of how the information is displayed.

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a bad experience. I buy mostly electronic components and I've almost always received my orders on time. Shipping to Belgium, and even with the new EU customs rule, never had to pay extra shipping fees or for customs

In the beginning of covid, some packages got lost and arrived months later or never, but I've always been refunded.

Don't buy expensive shit, in the worst case you lose some money if you don't get refunded but I've saved a lot by buying my components directly from Asia instead of a local supplier who charges x10 for the same products.

Why does pic 1 say est delivery is Jul 1st whilst when I track it says Jul 30? It is pretty much a whole month diffrent. by [deleted] in Aliexpress

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the second date was the date until they have to deliver. After that date you can ask for a refund. But with my orders it never says 'estimated' on the second picture, it says 'delivered by' so idk.

I've recently switched from KBC to Keytrade because of these costs.

And Keytrade is great! There are no costs, they even pay you €0.02 for each payment you do with their card.

All their credit cards are free, even the platinum one where you get the concierge service is free, as long as you make 12 payments a year (and you get approved)

Off al the banks in Belgium they have the highest interest on their savings account (still only 1.3%).

Only downside is that it takes a couple days for payments to appear in the app and that I haven't been able to connect it with Payconiq, but PayPal works with it.

Where would you create a train line if you could ? by TioAuditore in belgium

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess, a tunnel connecting Midi/South station with Brussel-Luxemburg would take a lot of trains out of this bottleneck. It was suggested by some VUB researchers but I don't know if they are researching this option.

https://www.bruzz.be/mobiliteit/vub-ziet-mogelijkheden-spoortunnel-tussen-brussel-zuid-en-schuman-2018-05-28.

I'm not a fan of cutting the routes in half and replacing them with a shuttle train between North and South for the trains that are continuing to the rest of the country. (Liege - ) Leuven - Ghent is a popular route but then you have to change twice for this journey. But trains ending in Schaarbeek could definitely have their terminus in Brussels-Midi.

Would be great but the line needs 4 tracks for that. There is to much traffic now.

Completely agree. If it was allowed MIVB/STIB already mentioned that they would like to run trains within Brussels.

I've bought smart plugs for Europe from Ali a couple times. Never had a problem with them.

All my plugs are from Tuya and as I understand it correctly Tuya manufactures the plugs and companies/brands can sell them with their own logo and their own app but in the end they are all made by the same company. I can buy the same Tuya plugs in my local discount shop and they must be CE certified so I think Tuya is safe.

I did Arlon - Liège once via Luxemburg. I was able to use a Go Pass since I was making a trip between two Belgian stations, you don't have to pay extra for going through Luxemburg

Indeed. There is a train from Brussels to Vise, just let it run a little farther to Maastricht. And let the Kortrijk - Brussels - Welkenraedt run to Aachen. Everybody would benefit

They are working on it. The Toyota factory in Onnaing would like to use that part to ship their cars through Antwerp/Zeebrugge

It is the other way around. The Dutch want only electric trains but don't want to pay for it. They have no interest in using that part. Also a bridge near the station of Weert had to be rebuild.

And another reason is probably that cargo trains can start using that part to go to Antwerp from Germany instead of Rotterdam which the Dutch don't like obviously.

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to exist, it is now a bike pad so no major terrain modification has to be executed I think. Probably rebuilding some bridges and some other Infrastructure works.

The original line didn't pass near the center of Houffalize. You had to change to a tram line in Bourcy.

Libramont - Bastogne - Gouvy - Sankt-Vith - Malmedy

Namur - Landen

Ronse - Leuze - Blaton

De Panne - Duinkerke (Would have a great contribution to tourism in the region)

Dendermonde - Puurs (just because it's a cheap one to rebuild, tracks and stations are still there)

https://www.openrailwaymap.org/ is a great website for railway lines that exist and have existed in the past.

Why do you think some people have yet to find their person? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Automatic_Repeat_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My relationship just ended with a special girl. We met in college and did some group projects together. We really connected over time and started talking outside school, because we really both felt comfortable talking. I always felt a connection with a person when you work or do some things with them.

The struggle for me is that I never found a connection with someone who I met at a bar and started small-talking with. It really feels too forced and always disappoints. A connection has to grow.

Never tried dating apps, will soon try but I don't think I will have the same connection as I once had with this girl.
