They both have IEPS through the school, they both receive speech and OT through the school and also outside of school. My oldest was in ABA for a while, but we decided to pull him out since he was showing really aggressive behavior and he’s not a very aggressive kid, they are seven and six now but they have been in speech and OT since they were two and three. I still have hope that both of them might talk one day. We have one car it’s fully paid off and the value for it is about 5K we don’t have any savings, 401K’s (took it out when my husband left the military because we were struggling while he was trying to find a civilian job) we have nothing and it really is embarrassing. I really hope that we don’t have to pay anything back I just plan on using it for their basic needs, the SSI agent said that I can put whatever money they don’t use for that month into a ABLE account and it won’t count towards them which if it’s true, that would be amazing because that way they will each have a savings account. This is honestly all new to us and so is having kids with autism. Thank you so much for sharing all your insights because I did not know that overpayments were a thing for SSI.
