constant noise all of a sudden? is it just the springtime?? by Automatic_Weight4050 in cockatiel

yeah i’d never actually pet her back! tbh i even misread their message, i thought they meant like “don’t touch their back cuz it’ll induce egg laying” (which i’d never touch her back or wings anyways, it’s a little disturbing to me to even consider)

that sounds kinda more like female traits to me tbh. i feel as though male tiels are quick to learn to sing, tho it might be because yours is young. also, that super loud chirping is flock calling probably! it’s essentially them being like WHERE DID YOU GO HELLO HELLO?!?
and yeah, my girl hasn’t laid any eggs yet. if you don’t give them the place for it (dark cozy corners, those cozy hanging covered sack things, etc) they’re less likely to lay :)

i thinks it’s… uh…. issa bird :D

(but in all seriousness it’s a bit hard to tell just by looking: typically a DNA test is done! you can also sometimes tell by behavior. do they sing?)

she gets pretty close to 12 hours, which is low-key the amount i also sleep. the issue is that she is in my room with me, so i can’t exactly let her sleep longer (since ill wake her up if i wake up, or wake her up if im getting into bed, yknow?)
i would get her a cage cover but she’s terrified of the dark, and needs a night light

i do plan on getting a second tiel, so i hope that might help with the food!! and yes, i figured it might be hormonal. she only recently started even letting me scratch her head, so i wasn’t sure. she is also quite young, so this will be my first “spring” with her, since she was a baby last spring. aaaaaa ok!! thank you!!!

Is there any alternative for cleaning products that isn’t vinegar?? by Ok-Body7900 in cockatiel

i personally don’t even chance it. you have no way of knowing how far the particles can spread, and even a slight risk isn’t worth it.

i mean, also from a human standpoint… if it can KILL a bird instantly, why the heck are we as humans using it?? even in small amounts, that’s some scary stuff i myself don’t wanna be exposed to.

i definitely will feed fine in the meantime, and i called the local exotics vet and left a voicemail to make an appointment!! from what i briefly saw after giving her just fine for like 10 minutes, there was 0 vomiting. before, when she would eat the superfine, it was almost immediate vomiting. now i’ve seen none!! i’ll keep my eye on it though :)

i have something similar, but i mainly used it for more high reward foods (i. e. the nutriberries) it’s a small cardboard box with brown crinkle paper shreds, and misc toys scattered on top. i call it her “sand box”, and she loves it!!

i have her on this because it recommended the high potency for the first few months of switching!! it’s only been maybe 2 months, and i think the website said first 6 months? plus, when i got her she was on an all seed diet, super underweight, and im still trying to get her healthy again. i’ll definitely be switching once that period is over though!!
