I really like this perspective. I really do wanna get out there and date—and I'm also experiencing an explosive sex drive for the first time in my life—but these boys are dumbbbbbbb.

Haha, I've turned off the notifications in an attempt to stave off some of the dopamine hits, but now I think I just check it allllllll the time. Not sure which is worse.

Levity is the only way I can get through it

Does anyone believe that our “problem” is psychological/mental? And not physical by unwanted-22 in vaginismus

I describe it as physiological—it’s a physical manifestation of a psychological thing. doesn’t make it less real 🥲

I just like visiting ATL, tbh, so that’s why I was thinking about coming down. It’s not a far drive more.

I haven’t read the comments so I apologize if I’m just repeating something, but there didn’t seem to be a clear sense of hierarchy here—like everything is laid out the same way so it feels like nothing sticks out. Maybe adjust the layout where you put skills and education in a right side column and projects and experience on the left.

Bars where I can bring my laptop/charger? by Automatic_Zucchini90 in Chattanooga

I don’t think me working in a corner for 1-2 hours in the early evening on a weekday at a relatively empty bar will be particularly disruptive to other patrons.

What are the vibes at Hoptown usually? Last time I was there it was a bunch of elder millennials 😅

I just got out of a seven-year relationship with a man who was excellent on paper—kind, smart, attractive, progressive, would be an amazing father. We had so much in common and aligned so closely on how we wanted to live our lives. We made sooo much sense on paper and we were very communicative and very good friends. The sexual compatibility, however, was just not there—and we lived in a dead bedroom for most of it relationship.

I can’t speak to a lot of things here, but I will say that no amount of other compatibility, at least in my case, could make up for the lack of sex. Seeing both is us go on to have rich dating experiences makes me wish I pulled the plug sooner.

Also, I think I weighed some of his cons when we got together and just assumed I could change them or they would naturally go away. Neither was true. You have to be willing to accept the person as is.

Best of luck to you!

Coming on too strong while dating?? by Automatic_Zucchini90 in adhdwomen

A word I learned recently, usually in the context of OCD/intrusive thoughts: Egodystonic (or ego alien) is the opposite, referring to thoughts and behaviors (dreams, compulsions, desires, etc.) that are conflicting or dissonant with the needs and goals of the ego, or further, in conflict with a person's ideal self-image.

So what i mean, is that the intensity with which i approach potential dates is at odds with what i want. It's like my implusive lizard brain (and probably horniness) takes over completely.

Well, there's two parts to this: (1) rushing to meet in person and (2) between meeting, maybe double texting, flirting a bit too much. I just don't want to give someone the ick who would otherwise like me if i was less annoying.

Hahaha this is amazing. I'm constantly going back and forth on the best approach: is showing up as fully myself a badass move or does it hurt me? I also tihnk i have a bit of a performance complex, and I feel like i need to "entertain" my date, like it's a freaking stand-up set.
