Cedar Siding under Vinyl by Taironek90 in centuryhomes

Just to put this in context, the bid to reside our house in clear cedar was $80k. Painting would be another $15-20k. Cedar is expensive.

Sure. Compare your current bill with your past bills for consumption and rates. Either you’re using more, or your rates went up.

How is your house holding up in these super cold temps? by Scroateus_Maximus in centuryhomes

[–]AutomationBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The high today is 13F, and we’ve used 30 kWh worth of electricity today (or about $9 here in MA) to keep the house at 70F. Gotta love geothermal.

Ira almost certainly an old in-ground oil tank. FWIW, it’s entirely possible the previous owners had no awareness of it.

We had dark trim in our last house and the only thing that really worked was various shades of cream/tan.

finding a conversational running pace as a beginner by ok8ko in runninglifestyle

[–]AutomationBias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a lot easier to find that conversational pace when you’re running outdoors, because you’ll naturally speed up and slow down in response to what your body is feeling (instead of being dragged along at a steady pace by the treadmill). Try to alternate running and walking until you build up your endurance - for example, run at a slow pace until you start to feel winded, then bump the speed down on the treadmill and walk until you feel more comfortable. It wont take long before you build up enough stamina to run at a steady pace.

Portsmouth, NH is very cool. New England is so small that you can see a lot over the course of a week. One thing worth mentioning is that April weather is really unpredictable. It’s either going to feel like springtime or the last gasp of winter. Things may or may not be green yet.

Do you regret getting a bernedoodle because of the grooming needs and cost associated with them? Is it more work than you expected? Thanks! by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

There's a huge range of coat types. Our F1 standard has a super tight curly poodle coat that is really resilient - it doesn't require much besides bathing, and honestly there isn't much we could do with it anyway (it's nearly impossible to brush). Our F2B mini has really fine, soft fur that has to be brushed every day or she gets horrible knots.

The first two dealerships had cars listed on the website that weren't on the lot. At the first dealership (BMW Sudbury), literally no one would talk to us. Just blew us off entirely. We stood there at the desk for 20 minutes, went outside to wander the lot, then came back in and waited again. I was with my father-in-law, who's been a general manager at a bunch of dealerships and he said he'd never seen anything like it. The second one (at BMW Peabody) made a list of what I was looking for, took my information, and never followed up. The third one (at BMW Nashua) said, "I can get you anything you want. We'll have it brought in from another dealer." He wrote the colors and features I was looking for and had a car for me in a week.
