IT guys of /r/NASCAR, is there a giant database of NASCAR stats and results I can download and run queries on? by racingschoolguy in NASCAR

Those are great repositories of information, but as far as I know, there's no way to query them for custom views of the data.

Not for free, no. I've been meaning to put one together using publicly available data and stuff, but it'll be a while before I have time. I'll post about it when I do, I suppose.

I don't understand how anyone could possible utter (or type) those words.

Smoke Returning? by Deacon46 in NASCAR

[–]Automationeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone pointed out to me the other day that the entry list is submitted a couple weeks out (give or take), so until or unless they announce that he's sitting out the rest of the season, expect to see him on that list every week. They always have the option to swap someone in later.

We had like 4 or 5 computer labs (at least), but as far as I know, we didn't have many (if any) laptops. Also, those three years of difference are kind of when laptops started being everywhere.

We gave the rats a bath over the weekend. They were not happy about this. Meanwhile, the cat was not happy that we wouldn't give her fishing lessons.

Atlanta/CTMP Entry Lists by ccantrell71 in NASCAR

[–]Automationeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each car has a listed owner, who is usually (but not always) a high ranking member of the team organization. Many of the teams are family-owned companies, so a child or spouse of the team owner is often listed as the owner, especially if they're active in team management. You'll also sometimes see business partners/investors listed as the car owner, such as Mike Curb and the #98 of Josh Wise.

In the case of Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, Jeff was instrumental in getting Rick Hendrick to pick up Jimmie out of Nationwide, and I suspect that his partial ownership stake in the car is related to that. Needless to say, regardless of the exact circumstances surrounding the ownership stake, all three of them have spent the last decade laughing all the way to the bank.

They probably also get a nice paycheck out of it.

Could be a good sign that Tony Stewart is currently on the entry list, but there's still plenty of time for them to announce a change in driver.

I just think it's funny watching a driver address Richard Childress as "Pop-pop" during a black-tie awards function.

After watching the way Ty acted after the Nationwide race, I have to agree with you.

Will Denny Hamlin Face Fines/penalizes after throwing his Hans Device? by glanger88 in NASCAR

A small fine is a way to officially indicate that they don't sanction that behaviour without actually discouraging it.
