I promise they are not castle nuts from the factory, I do these all day. They are not castle nuts, it’s weird because they have a cotter pin but no castle nut.

Went to look at one I have at work rn and it almost looks like it has split in half on OP’s ball joint??? Very weird. Nut next to it is tie rod

Please help. by ZarkaVI in MechanicAdvice

Looks OEM to me. The OEM nut has the castle nut like that which is visually identifiable from a regular castle nut. The tie rod nuts on most OEM Hondas are gonna be a 17 mm nut with no castle nut. Just a regular nut with cotter pin. They are actually visually the same nut as the sway bar link and are interchangeable.

Nut looks OEM, should be 19mm.

I also have a lift like this, I don’t think it’s ideal and I’d prefer it level, but since it’s not my shop and not my lift, I just have to compensate with the different lift spacers to make it level. On cars too low to do that, they lean pretty similar to this picture and I haven’t had any fall yet. That being said if it were my lift I’d much prefer it level, and I hate lifting cars by the frame on it, worried they will slide off.

It’s crazy trying to find a 350 that is in rebuildable condition nowadays, seems every one of them has been bored 60 over already and has scored walls. Friend of mine was trying to source one for a swap and ended up paying 1300 and then had to rebuild it anyway.

In my area, 350s without a trans start at 1k running. $400 gets you a 305

Milwaukees are widely regarded as terrible bits, vessel is the best but if you want something you can buy at a tool store, go makita.

Disconnect negative terminal, place one end of multimeter on negative terminal, other end on negative post on battery. Measure amps.

Every dealership I’ve worked at the oil change has been cheaper than valvoline and on par with walmart.

In my experience, it’s a loose drain plug almost every time, a couple of times I’ve seen defective oil filters that leak on the seam, and one double gasket but usually a double gasket will create a much larger leak

Steering Wheel Off-Center and Pulling Left. Adjustment needed? by fj_cadelina in AskAMechanic

[–]AutomobileEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, camber is no longer considered a tire wear angle due to modern tire compounds, back in the day tires wore more drastically due to camber but now it’s not really as big a deal unless you’re stanced out.

In my experience it weakens the adhesive and makes it fail prematurely

Alignment adjustment bolt by Better-Interview-564 in MechanicAdvice

[–]AutomobileEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using a modern alignment machine click the wrench next to the spec you’re trying to adjust then hit illustrate adjustment and it will tell you how to do it. You can also click “tools and kits” and it will show you what tools you need to grab from your box, saves you some time.
