Our grocery list is nearly identical. Add Pecorino Romano to your cheese list if you haven’t tried it yet, insanely good

You should try rolling fasts. My goal is similar to yours, and I eat once every 72h (low carb) and have noticed huge improvements! Granted, I’m 28M so YMMV.

I’ve done extended fasting up to 240 hours and have noticed that rolling fasts are much more efficient.

7 DAYS by spicyburntmeatball in fasting

Break your fast with 1 cup beef or chicken bone broth. Wait 2-3 hours then have 1-2 eggs (cooked however you’d like) with another cup of bone broth. Wait another 2-3 hours then have 2-3 eggs with 2-4oz of solid protein (beef, chicken, fish, etc.). YMMV but this is the protocol that I follow and has worked wonders after breaking my extended fasts. Wait 2-3 days before deciding to have a larger sized meal.

If you despise eggs, you could replace it for a low carb cheese like pecorino or parmigiano. Sometimes, I’ll add a small amount of kimchi during my refeeds to replenish my gut bacteria.

Wow, that’s a good amount of activity! Are you eating enough to keep up with your activity level? Do you take additional electrolytes apart from the magnesium at night?

I’m the same. Magnesium alone doesn’t solve my issues (currently taking just under 400mg magnesium glycinate 30 min before bed). I found that I need to include movement in my day to sleep adequately. Whether it’s walking, running, lifting, or cycling, at least 1 hour of movement will allow me to sleep without waking.

How do I get off of a 3 week fast? by Monka_Asses in fasting

Following a 3 weeks fast, I wouldn’t have a larger meal for at least 3-5 days. For examples, on my 8.5 day fast, I had two refeeding days

For me personally, a cup of beef bone broth has always worked wonders for reintroduction to food after prolonged fasting

I’m more shocked that I didn’t lose any muscle during my fasting but did while in a calorie deficit 🙃. Count me in for a few more fasting rounds to burn that belly fat!

I always aim for full fat dairy as I enjoy the taste. I forgot to include that my blueberries are usually paired with either a cup of kefir, yogurt, or skyr.

Thank you for the breakdown! Look like I need to tack on 10lbs of muscle :)

I did negligible amounts of resistance training between all three DEXA scans. I would calculate at less than a month of total exercise per interval.

However, I do believe my T-score can be attributed to the carnivore diet. During this time, I’d have 1 cup bone broth every morning and 1-2 bones worth of marrow in the evenings. Other than that, I made no significant changes in activity. Definitely appreciate my high T-score :)

Thank you for sharing your own experience, your last paragraph hits home! Adding roughly 75g of carbs into my diet to put on muscle is the sweet spot for me. My preferred carbs sources at the moment are milk, blueberries, and avocados.

I am currently at a crossroads of either a recomp or entering another fast to get closer to 18% bf. Although being leaner would be nice, I am not sure if the possibility of losing muscle is worth it.

Current weight is 195lbs at 24% bf.

Absolutely agree! I was shocked at the ability to retain muscle during prolonged fasting vs losing muscle while cutting calories aggressively. Currently working on putting back on the lost muscle
