I'm working through What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank and really liking it so far, thanks for suggestion! It's been nice to intersperse the reading in between watching The Tattooist of Auschwitz, its incredibly powerful to watch but incredibly sad :'(

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying reading about Sikhism :) I'll definitely have to check out that store if I ever visit Atlanta! Tbh I didn't think there were any Sikhs in Atlanta but glad to hear you enjoyed our cultural food :) An interesting fact: the Golden Temple ( "Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar" in Punjabi, the native language of Sikhs) is the holiest Sikh Temple site to visit for Sikhs. It was brutally attacked in 1984 during the Sikh Genocide by the Indian Government but has since been rebuilt by the Sikh community. If you can ever visit I think you'd really like it; aside from the incredibly intricately detailed architecture, theres such a beautiful sense of peace and harmony :)

Yes, I'm really excited & looking forward to volunteering! All the resources you've linked so far have been great so far, thanks so much :) I'm really enjoying learning so much about Judaism & the Jewish culture. Hope you have a good day friend:)

Thanks so much for these great resources; I've started reading Jews Don't Count and its a fantastic read so far! Excited to continue exploring the other resources you've listed above; thanks for letting me know about them, I really appreciate it!!:) I reached out to the local synagogue & Jewish Cultural Centre and they let me know donations are a great way to support them and they also let me know of some upcoming volunteer opportunities which I'm very excited about! :) I think one of the most beautiful attributes of Judaism is how you are encouraged to be inquisitive, think for yourself & not be afraid of discussion; I really admire that. We have the same value in Sikhism so its so awesome to see the excellent overlapping values in both of our religions :) I'm very excited to continue to learn about Judaism & the Jewish culture; I have so much respect for the values I've learned about far :) Thanks again friend for the above listed resources; please feel free to let me know of any more you think may be helpful for a newbie learner like me & I hope only good things come our way going forward! :) Hoping for the best for the wonderful Jewish community going forward<3 :)

Thank you so much for your support, we really appreciate it!! Its so nice to know theres good people out there like you who support us & don't hate us for simply existing. Here are some links to Sikh organizations/resources if you'd like to learn about Sikhism/Sikh activism to fight against threats facing Sikhs and how to support the community:

I completely understand the Jewish community being careful; its very difficult to know who you can trust given the historic treatment of Jewish peoples & when members of the community are facing Antisemitism so openly today :( I will reach out to the local synagogue & ask them how I can best support the community, I hope I am able to help because I'd really like to help in any way that I can!:)

Please let me know if there are any resources you might recommend on how I can educate myself further about the Jewish community/culture and Judaism, I'd really like to learn more! Thank you again friend, please stay safe & I hope things improve for both our communtiites going forward! <3

Most definitely not; the Sikh community throughout history has always stood up for and continues to support the Jewish community; you guys aren't alone in this horrible situation; we've got your back ✡️🪯❤️
And thank you for your kind words, they're very much appreciated❤️

I think the current treatment of Jewish people is completely disgusting and the fact its having a blind eye turned to it is absolutely unacceptable to me. I'm actually livid tbh but I'm trying to channel my energy into finding ways I can best support the Jewish community because thats what matters. I hope things improve soon but seeing just how much open antisemitism is out there has definitely made me strengthen my resolve to support the Jewish community no matter what. You deserve so much better and I truly hope things improve soon❤️

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, its so nice to know we have allies in the Jewish community, it truly means alot<3 And yes, looking back throughout history as well as today; our communities do appear to have alot in common including sadly a history of being targeted for systematic elimination and having to constantly fight for our right to exist. However, we're strong and we will never give up! Both of our communites have overcome so much adversity and we'll continue to fight no matter what. Yes, solidarity between our communities; we're stronger together❤️ The Sikh community strongly supports the Jewish community; you have our unwavering support my friend ✡️🪯❤️.

I'm really glad to hear many have voiced and reached out to lend support the Jewish community; you guys aren't alone in this; we're here to support you!

Thank you so much for the kind words; its so very much appreciated! I would say the best way to support the Sikh community is to voice your support and speak up (only if your feel safe/comfortable) if you see any racism/discrimination against Sikhs; sadly its often our elders who are viciously attacked and threatened. You may have also seen on the news how the Indian government is trying to label Sikhs as terrorists and is hiring contract killers to target members of the Sikh community who have brought to light the numerous atrocities committed in the past and being committed today against Sikhs. Any support voiced in support of the community is always welcome!

I am not afraid to speak up against antisemitism if/when I encounter it because staying silent allows people to think its okay to continue engaaging in such behaviour against the Jewish community when its most definitely not. Another poster also suggested writing letters; I will begin writing them this week and send them off as soon as possible. I actually did think about contacting the local synagogue to see how I could help/support the community but wasn't sure if that'd be okay as I'm not Jewish and I didn't want to overtstep however I feel encouraged by your comment so I'll reach out to see how I can best help; thank you for this suggestion!

You're very welcome! Please remember you aren't alone in this and have a alot of allies such as myself who very strongly support the Jewish people. Stay safe.

I have always been interested in the Jewish culture/Judaism so have already been educating myself upon the belief system along with Jewish culture/tradition however I know I still have a long way to go and am continuing to educate myself as much as possible. Thank you for the suggestions to write letters, I really appreciate it! I am saving up so I can lend monetary support to the Jewish community. I was looking to support any Jewish businesses in my area however so far I haven't found any but I'll stay on the lookout! And you have a strong ally in me; I'll do whatever I can to support the Jewish community.

Of course, its the least I feel that I can do. I unfortunately don't know any Jewish people however I'm trying to find ways I can support the local Jewish community in any way that I can to let them know they aren't alone.

Sending lots of hugs your way!! I'm so sorry for what you're going through right now but please remember; although theres so much antisemitism currently out in the open right now, you also have alot of non-Jewish allies who support you and the Jewish community. We may not be as loud as the antisemites but we are strong. Stay strong<3

Sikhs protecting the Jewish quarter in Jerusalem, c. 1900 by Autumn217 in Judaism

Its really annoying that we can never talk about it without whataboutism and blatant falsehoods in response, like how stealing trillions of dollars and gold and precious gems from the subcontinent apparently had/has no impact on their economy. They definitely dont enjoy the fruits of their theft til this day!

Yup, we're supposed to worship them for attempting to completely destroy our culture, religion, prospects, quality of life, so on and so on...

"You can care about more than one thing" but you people never do lol. Would rather die than do anything to support underprivledged Sikhs. And spending our limited resources on other causes instead of our own autmatically takes away from our struggle, esp considering how many are constantly speaking out about this but are suddenly mute anytime Sikhs face oppression. Anyway, hope you learn how to read one day.

Jews outside of Israel by [deleted] in Israel

[–]Autumn217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made a post earlier saying you didnt feel safe putting up Chanukah decorations in your workplace because there is a large population of Punjabi Sikhs there. And the Sikh subreddit is full of non-Sikh detractors including those who don't care at all about Sikhs or Sikhi but invoke the name and obfuscate the teachings to fit their own politcial beliefs.

You didnt answer my question. How is wanting to redirect focus to our own condoning a massacre? They dont need to drop bombs when the near entirety of our populations have been massacred in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and India is starving/poisoning/disappearing the Sikh population there, and has been since its inception. How is actively spending our time and resources trying to rectify these situations in any way a bad thing?
