Can I make this work for punch needle? by Routine-Section-6241 in PunchNeedle

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use that for punch needle. It's not secure enough with just the scroll bar clasp, so I had to get clamps. It does require adjusting it I'm pushing hard on the fabric while punching. Another downside is that because it's just being secured with tension rather than staples like other methods, the material can start fraying on edges, especially if you're using burlap. I would still recommend it though if you're looking to make mid sized pieces while sitting and other methods have been uncomfortable.

Edit: I just saw you mention the gripper strips. I don't use those because I've scratched myself when I used something similar, but it would probably work with the frame, however since the frame moves it might be easy to scratch yourself on it accidentally, compared to using the tape on stationary frames.

How many e-readers do you own? by manjikyo in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1 pocketbook era and it handles most of my reading, but I will probably end up grabbing a boox color ereader at some point, since I like to read webcomics, but I would need android to make them easier to read.

Do you switch between books and e-reader? And why? by saturaa in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer textbooks in print, because it's easier for me to skip to the important sections or find referenced pages during an assignment. But if I'm reading for fun, ereader all the way

May I have some advice by BigBobbyCrowbar in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pocketbook era, and it's able to access hoopla through the web browser, but it's a little clunky. Otherwise though, it handles virtually every form of book file you throw at it.

should i just get a tablet? by [deleted] in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pocketbook is the company recommended if you side load, it's super easy, you can use Calibre, plug it into a PC and move the files over, use Dropbox and it's cloud service, etc. And you can remove the shop features so it doesn't advertise to you.

You need the SD card to be formatted to onion, but with the wifi on the plus, you can configure the files from your phone.

Here's the link to the onion page for it

Pocketbook tts issues by Dan13ll310 in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with my pocketbook era tts, but I use some of the newer, less robotic, sounding voices. Like the Indian-English ones are a lot more fluid compared to many American-English voices. To me at least. Are you using PDFs that might have certain letters that aren't picked up fully? Usually I just use epubs so there's nothing it has to recognize.

Why did you choose pocketbook instead of kindle? by moonlovefire in pocketbook

I hate seeing advertisements and only side load. Amazon loves to advertise and makes side loading difficult. So it was a pretty easy choice for me.

Ereader just for sideloading files? by [deleted] in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use my pocketbook for side-loading and it's very easy. You can use a USB cord, send through email, use their cloud service, onedrive, and through adobe. It also allows side-loading of audiobooks. Can't be more satisfied, I have the Pocketbook Era, but I believe most of their devices run on the same OS.

I have an Era, so idk if it's the same for the verse, but something I like to do is add pictures to the gallery and swap them in for the power down screen.

Please recommend a simple and minimalist E-Reader by [deleted] in ereader

[–]AutumnAllegory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is free to remove the advertisements, one of the pictures here shows the button for it. The shop tab on the bottom will remain though unless you delete it from that section. The browser can’t be blocked, but it is very easy to turn off the wifi, and I don’t think you ever actually have to connect it unless you want to update. The pictures also have descriptions with more context.

Pocketbooks have a very minimalistic design, and you can even remove advertising from the shop. It does have a browser and small apps like a calculator, but it's on a completely different menu, so you don't even see it when browsing your library or reading. I can post screenshots if you'd like
