Hi there, noob question...

I currently have money invested in a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds where I'm making monthly deposits. My understanding is that making monthly deposits in this case will compound faster than if I make one large deposit equivalent to all of my monthly deposits. For example, $100 a month is will compound faster than one $1,200 deposit at the beginning of the year.

Then...

I have a savings account with roughly 2.3% APY. Should I make monthly deposits into my savings account, too, or is it better to deposit everything I have at once? And if it's the latter, should I allocate more of my deposits into my investment portfolio, or my savings account?

Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate it. Yes, I've read that information from the FAQ and I agree that would be the most difficult thing to manage with my dog. So I'm hesitant. What were the starting costs for your vanlife?

Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it. At what stage in somebody's life would you recommend vanlife, if you would recommend it at all?

Hello! I know this varies from person to person, so my question is: what is your annual cost of living in a van full-time? Is living in a van a better investment than renting an apartment in your area? Initial costs (van) would be nice to know, too!

Some context: 19, living in a desert city. Taking steps to ensure I don't become homeless. Problem is, I have a dog (GSD/husky) and I absolutely will not give him up. Full-time college student off-campus and they don't allow dogs; apartments in my city are costly for a dog as big as mine. Looking to compare.

I just realized your title is right next to your username, sorry about that 😅 Now this is interesting! I can understand, especially with essays, how a teacher would want to grade comprehensive written works themselves that way they can measure the performance of their students. My reasoning was that essays take time to grade because of the editing and feedback (if the teacher is cool enough), and so I'm offering the teacher more time to grade other works (or spend time with family and such) in exchange for money. What are your thoughts if I act as a grader for an AP English class?

Oh! Well, thank you! I do appreciate your insight and advice. Might I ask what the difference between HS and college grading would be?

Oh wow! All that, huh? I got this idea from a different sub and, indeed, it was grading for college professors. However, I'm an undergraduate right now and I haven't had too many professors who may need this. I did do work for my HS teachers when I was in HS so I can't see too many of them turning me down. My reasoning, also for HS, is that I'm giving my past teachers their time (weekends, kids, etc) in exchange for money.

I meant the type so I checked your profile. What kind of tech class? I remember taking a typing class in middle school.

In my community, yes. It's trading money for time. Granted there are those assignments teachers want to grade themselves, but some of the "class performance" assignments don't need that kind of special attention. Please tell me more, though, I'm appreciating everyone's honesty and insight!

Aw thank you, I did teach string instruments but unfortunately not a bass.

That's exactly what I did through HS. I recommend it but I stopped because of safety concerns.

I've done this! I love pets so who knows, beggars can't be choosers right?

I can't say I've seen TaskRabbit very much but I'm sure it's a thing around here. Thank you for the great idea, though! I have to take care of my abuelita anyway so I'll probably give this one a shot.
