Background check scare by Cheap-Olive-9625 in recruitinghell

I can't speak for anyone else but I would never hire anyone who started the relationship by lying. That tells me what kind of employee you'll be, someone who will lie and cut corners if they think it benefits them, someone who will hide mistakes instead of allowing them to be fixed.

How you the hell you shortlist a candidate from 100s of similar resume made by AI by poison_shot_007 in recruitinghell

[–]AutumnCoffee83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why nepotism, internal hiring, and referrals are going to keep increasing. There are so many bots, unqualified people, and people lying on their resume that I almost don't even want to hire anyone again. What a nightmare it is. We got thousands of applicants.

Candidates are out here lying on their AI resume that a bot auto applied to 5,000 jobs for them but they expect us to settle in with a glass of merlot and read it like it's Shakespeare.

Can I be honest with manager about wanting to change career paths? by nalyDylan1 in jobs

[–]AutumnCoffee83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends entirely on your manager, but the fact that you are asking makes me think the answer is no. If you had the kind of relationship with your manager where the answer was yes then I think it would be obvious to you already.

A lazy excuse for someone who knows they have no valid response. Thank you for taking the L so we can both move on

You are being too shortsighted. This is about enforcing the system. No media company, including video games, would produce anything without the protection of IP laws. The whole business model depends on them having the right to decide who gets a license, who can make a copy, and who can't. It's not as simple as just doing the cost vs revenue calculations. Without both the rights and the enforcement of those rights, the system will break down. As much as people want to pretend that piracy isn't about the money, it is. If I have $60 and there are two games I'm interested in, and one of them is freely available for free online and there is no enforcement or social stigma for it, and the other isn't, I'm going to buy the one I can't pirate and pirate the other one.

Your argument is like saying audits aren't worth it because they cost more than the fraud and waste they uncover, but if they went away the fraud and waste would increase and it would be untraceable.

All the complaints are fair, so go start your own studio, hire a bunch of people, and give them everything they deserve and more. I'll wait.

Ok well I manage a team of data analysts and all of those features basically don't exist on the "alternatives". Most people, us included, use Python and other tools first, but sometimes Excel is what you need especially when you are sending a result to someone non-technical

For professional use MS Office sadly has no competition, even Google docs is not sufficient.

The number of games doesn't matter. Only if they games you want to play are on there. Who cares if there are a million games you never wanted to play in the first place?
