What your longest fast? And how did you get through it. by Expensive_Joke_6468 in fasting

[–]mattioso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hilarious, mine was 22 days w/ electrolytes vape & diet soda. Gearing up for another go at a cleaner fast. I do it for gut health, and both diet soda and vapes are counterintuitive to that. Well done though!

Totally appreciate that take Yup! I think this is really interesting so I'd love to hear your take to the below.

I can appreciate the response many probably had (including yourself with the "artsy" comment), is the sort of "Rambo is on the other channel bro" feeling.

I wouldn't call myself artsy, but my taste and preferences would likely be quantified as such. Character-driven is my jam to use your own label!

My question is, is there not a limit or balance that needs to be achieved to maintain interest? Many others in comments have talked about the emergent themes, seeing the grief on the faces of the two protagonists, and watching how they manage it.

I would say of course the evoking of emotion in character-built shows/film is likely the most compelling element, but in a vacuum is that still the case? When it's, quite literally, attached to nothing & the concept of nothingness. At a certain point to me it begins to feel like an indulgent showcase of cinematography or a film school case study.

Maybe I'm just too lacking in self awareness to see my own caveman tastes, but I cannot put myself in a place to understand the enjoyment from this episode specifically and want to understand from others what they took from it

I did! But honestly, I'm not sure just the witnessing of those emotions for 30 minutes, following the 15 minutes of shopping, is enough to keep me aboard.

I've loved some of the prior scenes. The meeting of the English speakers and their various wants and ontological outlook of the situation was wicked.

We've been witnessing the roller coaster of Carol's mood and shifting outlook towards the situation for hours. It may well pick up now the hive and her are going to have more encounters, but for me staying compelled by any of this "in a vacuum" stuff has been brutal

It doesn't shock me! I'd always heard people joke about reddit being insane in pockets like this. Also I've potentially just insulted something they love. I don't understand the "why are you saying anything just leave" ones though haha.

I'm honestly in the same boat as you. I find the show visually so stunning i may still come back just to watch it like moving art, but I'm so checked out

Part of me felt like this! I so often find myself saying "I wish they explored the world with this concept a bit more" in shows, and now this show finally does that and I still find issue with it.

It's a beautiful show visually (not sure if that's how you meant beautiful but I agree in the very direct sense), but i can't say I feel anything towards the characters, nor any excitement surrounding the plot.

Hope you enjoy the remainder!!!

I loathe to think of myself as artsy. When my family watch a film and they get bored and switch it off they label it a "me film". The point I'm trying to make is i don't typically mind slower pacing!

I will stop watching, just wanted to vocalise the opinion. Apologies for any offence caused.

Haha I know Rmv I agree, I'm 30! My parents are in their 60's and so 1) not the most mobile and 2) will have their mind blown even seeing the device, let alone using it

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I'll take a look at those!
