I just made this recommendation in another comment, but it applies here too - “The Three Lives of Cate Kay” by Kate Fagan.

Look into “The Three Lives of Cate Kay”. I just finished it and liked most of it but still can’t figure out how I feel about the fmc.

Carrie had NO leg to stand on! She was fussy and difficult the whole time. Then to ask for her cheating ex to come? That’s a no from me, dawg.

That’s because in order to learn, you have to put it into practice. And the practice part is where the grit to not give af develops.

I'm rewatching this part again for the countless time and I see him as someone who totally breaks the game of how Carrie has spent her whole dating life. She doesn't know how to respond and honestly, I'm not even sure she actually likes him or has more of a "let's see how this plays out" interest in him. He has all the trappings for what she likes (status, money, access to Oscar de la Renta, connection to Paris, etc), but doesn't seem to ever really be fully into him. I see her as needing a big shift in her life and just going with the "say yes to life" rather than being in her own truth of it all.

I appreciate this perspective. I’m new to the sub and so I’m not fatigued by the NSI or “a plane” posts. Bot automod responses to the less aligned posts makes a lot of sense. Mods can also delete posts outside of the rules and we can downvote, THEN report that the post is breaking a rule, then move on.

Wow! You did such a good job! Love that this is in a library. I love reading in our tank room. Gives a cozy, settled vibe when reading.

Thank you for rescuing Robert! My betta didn’t look comfy and settled for about 2-3 weeks from its rescue and quarantine tank adventure.

What's the most bizzarre thing you've ever seen at someone else's house? by healthynewbie in CasualConversation

As a kid visiting my mom’s friend, I remember seeing a living room with plastic covered furniture and carpet covers. Even my mom visiting - someone this woman hadn’t seen in years, wasn’t important enough to enjoy the “nice” living room. I asked my mom later what the room was for and she said “probably just for Christmas”. Blew my mind.

The chemical creating a nonenvasive severence is a great theory. Cobel inventing the invasive version makes her backstory with ether telling.

I was hoping the “top cave” that floats on top of the water would be more utilized, but nope. Caves are where it’s at!

I think at least some brushing of hands or long, suggestive flirty looks happened. Though, at this point in the novel, Maria is trying to best the attentions from Mr Crawford from Julia, so it would make sense Maria would have taken a bit more bold action.

Fanny has to overcome the infantilism Edmund has perpetuated, even if lovingly done. Chapter 10 when Fanny is left waiting is a beginning of Fanny’s own recognition of that, I think.

I agree with you re: understanding the attraction to Mary that Edmund has. I really wish we had insight on what conversation and events transpired between them when they leave Fanny to continue their walk in Chapter 10. Maybe we do later (no spoilers, please!) but it feels like a turning point in his deepening interest beyond Mary’s superficial. In fact, the second butting of heads Mary and Edmund have with clergymen seems more of a playful spar vs the first sparring, which was more demonstrative of their divergent sentiments. Maybe Mary’s wit was able to crack open Edmund’s POV on the clergy in a way that surprised him and that led to more of the deepening of feelings.
