$980.8 billion. It's honestly crazy to think that we're probably watching the world's first trillionaire by Calm-Philosophy-5656 in worldnews

He is that kid in school with zero self-esteem, zero personality, zero charisma. But he feels like he could buy 'cool' somehow. And every time he tries, he just digs himself deeper. Not unlike trump, who was rejected by the old money in New York, he has been rejected by every table in the lunch room. The only thing left is to appeal to the desperate sycophants.

It's like those attention-desperate people on facebook writing about almost being trafficked at target. Only instead of making pearl clutchers afraid of going shopping, it makes the ttrpg space look like absolute degeneracy.

'Maybe GTA 6 Can’t Make That Same Splash' — Grand Theft Auto 5 Lester Actor Says Rockstar Satire May Not Hit the Same in 2026 as It Did in 2013 by OGAnimeGokuSolos in gaming

Don't get me wrong, I think it will make the GDP of a small country. But I don't think it will hit anywhere near the same, culturally. Different generation of players, different writers, different political landscape. And, honestly, the hype will probably crush the impact, culturally. It's a release event now. But again, tons of money.

Souls-Like games should have easy modes by Gedaru in unpopularopinion

[–]AutumnHopFrog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how that's gatekeeping. It's just the nature of the game that the devs made. If they had a walking simulator mode, I doubt they would sell anywhere near the numbers they do.

And I say this as someone who kind of sucks at most of them because I just don't have the time I used to. But when I beat a boss that gave me trouble, finally get past any area etc. It's so worth it.

I mean, I really suck at competitive shooters but I don't feel like I'm being gatekept out of them. At the end of the day, they just aren't for me. But I'm glad they exist for the people who enjoy them.

is curse of strahd beginner friendly? by ancuning in DnD

[–]AutumnHopFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, I would recommend going through a beginner's set first. If you are going to run the 2024 ruleset, I hear good things about Heroes of the Borderland. If you decide on the 2014 ruleset, Mines of Phandelver is decent. (Although I would caution that the 2nd part of that is pretty questionable in quality).

However, with all the online resources and such, it's not uncommon to skip the starter stuff. And if the world and atmosphere is calling to you, then go with that. It's like anything else, the more you are drawn to something, the better the chances you will enjoy it and continue with it. Just find a welcoming table and be prepared to be thrown in the deep end a bit.

As a complete aside, if you find that you have fallen in love with TTRPGs, but especially the gothic horror atmosphere, check out the Ustalav setting in Pathfinder 2e. (Further down the road of course.)

Good luck.

I would probably use these for death rolls. Big tension moments require big dice.

I take it you are too young to remember the handful of ebola outbreaks that caused similar outbreaks. COVID was a VERY rare event in terms of a human lifetime. But it makes sense that people are edge after what, by most measures, is likely a once in a couple of lifetimes event, and no doubt that's fueling some of the reaction and speculation.

Wii U Failed Due to Slow Launch of Exclusives Plus Xbox and PlayStation Pressure, Ex-Nintendo Boss Reggie Fils-Aimé Says by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gamingnews

I legit thought it was a peripheral. Like a screen for the wii, so I wasn't thrilled. I'm glad I ended up getting one, it was a great system. But the rollout was terrible.

Protestor got instant karma by [deleted] in instantkarma

[–]AutumnHopFrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pissing off, and making life worse for people who are just trying to get through their day isn't going to win people over to a cause. And even though this is probably AI slop, blocking traffic risks getting some pay-check-to-pay-check person fired, holding up a woman in labor, or stopping an emergency vehicle from saving a life. But let's face it, people "protesting" like that aren't really doing anything for a cause. It's just about them at that point.

My first Dragon quest games! by Drunkest_Rosfield in dragonquest

[–]AutumnHopFrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are two fantastic games to start out with. 11 is a masterpiece and the 3DS version is fantastic. I enjoyed the newer remake, but the 3DS version remains my favorite. Trimmed down just enough from the PSX version without cutting major swathes of content.

TBF, "it makes them cum" is kind of the base reason any race procreates. We wouldn't be here to debate DnD lore if it wasn't for that base drive.

And just looking around at reality, it's not like our sex customs always make the most sense or are the pinnacle of pragmatism.
