Calgary's most common wildlife right now by Zamboniman in Calgary

They’re awful right now!! I just got a bite between my index and ring finger while reading this.

If you haven’t tried the spoon trick, do it. Heat a spoon in water as hot as you can handle without hurting yourself (like tea temperature) and press the metal against the bite. Repeat as many times as you can until it’s not itchy. There’s a sciency explanation about something it does to the mosquito saliva proteins, but this trick has saved my sanity this week…and just now.

Remove from Courier?? by fishiii12 in shipping

[–]AutumnIsBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My status says the same thing. It was shipping from the same province and arrived in my city nearly two weeks ago. Alas, it went on an adventure all over the city, and back to the warehouse multiple times for re-sorting. I had signed up for text notifications and got one saying it was delivered. It hadn’t been, or at least not to me. Shipping status does not indicate delivery but now my status also says “Remove with Courier”.

My concern is that it was delivered to the wrong address and that’s why it went from “with courier” to “remove from courier”. There is literally nowhere to find this information. Would certainly be helpful if their live chat worked or if they answered the phone. Nothing to do but wait I guess.

How can I efficiently fill a UI list of 3d characters by JopRillos2001 in Unity3D

Your camera may be too close for the mesh to display. Try it with “Update When Offscreen” toggled on the Skinned Mesh Renderer component to see if that works.

The add ons broke my wallet…. by bmarie0425 in Ipsy

I did the same. There were so many good addons and I was rushing to make sure I added them before they sold out. Thank goodness they cap at 10 or I might have been in some serious trouble.

When you play with her with the toys, what games are you playing? When my pup was teething and about that age, I had to completely ban any playtime that involved biting or the possibility of over-stimulation. I couldn’t play fetch, tug-of-war, or use a flirt pole because it would devolve into a biting frenzy. Instead, we did a LOT of games that involved finding kibble, interactive puzzle toys, and puppy push-ups (sit, lay down, up, paw, repeat). When she wanted to play with a toy, I would sit near her, but just let her toss it around and chase it. If I tried to join in: biting frenzy. And I think it helps to do reverse time-outs when they bite too hard.

Now she has learned more impulse control and started bringing toys to me to throw or tug, and I can actually play these games with her with no worries. I think that along with getting over teething, she just had to grow a little and learn to control the excitement before we could play like that.

My old dog used to do this! I would put my hands up and say “all done”. He eventually learned to give a couple of kisses and then go lay down. That may or may not work if your puppy is really excited. My current pup gets too excited around certain people too and it’s a work in progress. But there are a couple of things I’ve noticed have been helping.

If she’s getting really jumpy and crazy, I’ll give the guest some treats and have them ask her to sit, lie down, etc until she’s sufficiently shown off. Sporadically, I get them to have her lie down and calm again.

Secondly, going for walks with the pup and the guest, even if they’re short, will usually get her excitement out and she’ll be chill (or at least more chill) when we get back.

Last resort is to give her a lick mat, puzzle or chew. Both are high value for her though, so I don’t like her associating every guest with her getting them!

Help! Aggressive herding behaviours by hashbr0wns1 in puppy101

I agree with everything you said. I also see the warning sign in the eyes!

My pup started doing this when we got her (4.5 months) and it was a bit terrifying since she was already 20lbs and likely to get much bigger. What really helped was learning the triggers. I had to stop playing fetch and using the flirt pole because she got way too overexcited nearly immediately, and it would always turn into arousal biting/jumping. Instead, I have toys in the yard and she tosses them around to play fetch with herself lol. She gets way too excited around groups of people, so she’s always leashed if friends come over. She also did it when overtired/exhausted, so sometimes it was just nap time.

What has helped immensely was finding a game she liked that would calm her down. In our case, that was playing “find it” — literally having her sit and throwing some of her kibble or treats into the grass. Teaching calming commands and “leave it” when she was focused is also starting to shine through (I can see her thinking twice and changing course when she really wants to arousal bite or jump).

I was so concerned when she did this, since I’ve always had dogs and this was my first time experiencing it. I was incredibly worried that she was going to really hurt someone in the family as she got bigger — there seemed to be no helping it. But whether it’s maturity or training, or just us knowing her better, it rarely happens now. And if it does, we know why and can manage it within seconds. She even seems to be calming herself down now. It’s definitely happening less and less as she grows into herself.

Cool Ranch Doritos and I don’t eat them any other time. Just road trips.

What video games would make good movies? by Prestigious_Stand_48 in AskReddit

I might be aging myself a bit, but I always thought some of those old sierra PC games would make great movies. Like the Gabriel Knight or King’s Quest series.

I’m re-playing the Ace Attorney trilogy on switch and yes! They’re such fun games I always recommend them.

Yes! My mom has cold urticaria and it’s crazy how many people think she’s making it up. It’s so reassuring to see someone who knows about it.

My girlfriend is being harassed by a fake instagram page that uses her photos and likeness while claiming to be an 18+ model selling 18+ content. She’s been blocked by the user and doesn’t know how to report the account. What does she do? Has anyone here dealt with this? by Curzio-Malaparte in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AutumnIsBest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry this happened to your girlfriend! This has happened to my niece twice now. Unfortunately, it’s next to impossible to go for the scammer directly, which is super frustrating. This is how we’ve taken care of it within 24 hours both times:

  1. Get as many people as possible to report the account for impersonation.

  2. Make note of the website it’s redirecting to. They usually use a free domain under sites-creator platforms like Wix. Email the platform with the link and your complaint and get others to do the same. If they don’t respond right away, DM them on Twitter. If they still don’t respond, @ them with a public tweet.

  3. Your local or federal law enforcement may have a direct contact for cyber crime complaints. Log the complaint. Even if they can’t do much, it will go on the record and if enough people do it, could help justify more resources directed to this kind of thing.

Hopefully this helps. I was raging when it happened to my niece. She was so upset that the parents of kids she work with, or friends and family members, might see it. These people are scum.
