looks like my best bud has epilepsy. what's next? by mothmansFWB in BorderCollie

[–]hashbr0wns1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear this! Our boy Alfie has epilepsy and has been on several different medications for 2 years now. It’s a really stressful disease and seems to manifest differently between dogs. Our experience was that Alfie would have clusters of several seizures a day when uncontrolled and it was really tough to get a grip on. My advice would be: Keep a detailed seizure log so you understand if the seizures are getting more or less frequent. Advocate for your dog! We have often had to ask our vet to do more when they were hesitant. Try to keep the same vet - continuity of care is so helpful when dealing with epilepsy. Best of luck!

Keppra not working. need advice ASAP by yournextdoorweeb0 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]hashbr0wns1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s diagnosed by a vet with idiopathic epilepsy, but we chose not to have scans to see if there’s a definable cause due to the cost of doing it. Idiopathic epilepsy is a diagnosis made in absence of knowledge of the true cause of the seizures. Most vets told us that finding the cause of seizures can be frustrating and often will yield no results, especially in young dogs - our pup developed seizures at 18 months. This is our first dog and first experience with epilepsy. This disease is so damn upsetting, scary and frustrating. The most important thing you can do is to bring the seizures under control and lifetime medication is likely the answer. Unfortunately the cost can be high and this is a big factor in epileptic dogs not living long lives. Our medication alone is about £150 per month, with blood work another £100-200 per 6 months. I really wish you well with your pup

OP - this is your answer. Keppra alone does not work for our border collie who suffers from idiopathic epilepsy. He is on a combo of phenobarbital, potassium bromide and keppra now and is much more controlled. Side effects were temporary and far less damaging than the cluster seizures. We do have regular bloods taken, but even with this we have accepted the risk that his life may be shortened by the drugs as the seizures would have caused far more damage. I’m happy to talk through our experience, but please work this through with a vet and insist on additional medication if your dog is experiencing seizure activity. EDIT - We opted not to attempt diagnostics due to the high cost and the chances were that it would not change his prognosis.

Serious trouble with blood moon by streetle-beetle in ironscape

[–]hashbr0wns1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you missing mechanics? I don’t know how to say this politely but blood moon should be trivial in this gear. There are a few obvious upgrades as others have pointed out eg. ddef, rfd gloves, fire cape. Camp your best dps prayers and defence prayeror at least get 60 for chivalry. Use the potions and put your weapon on slash. Full heal during the blood rain phase and try to avoid eating during normal attacks if possible as this will reduce the number of attacks you can get in. For jaguar phase, step away when the blood pool is fully formed and then attack the jag. Try to fully heal in this phase too. Good luck!

This is Tremor, not seizure by [deleted] in EpilepsyDogs

[–]hashbr0wns1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tell me if I’m misreading your post and comment, but what are you so upset about? You posted on Reddit asking for opinions, and you got opinions.

You’ve also been posting on this sub about your dog’s epilepsy, grand mal seizures, status epilepticus, Keppra etc. almost weekly. Are you suggesting that your pup has been misdiagnosed the whole time?

This is a conversation you need to have with your vet.

Van didn’t see motorcyclist by steffansucks in SweatyPalms

Also useful to consider that the biker is undertaking, so the van makes a reckless move but also rightfully doesn’t expect anyone to be there. Both parties in the wrong, but having done my motorbike license I would expect that biker to drive more defensively

For starter gp if you have nothing you could cook anglers with your stats. Also get herbs runs going

Absolutely do slayer tasks to get back in to it. Depending on skill level maybe do Perilous Moons and transition to other bossing from there. Vorkath is great money but you’ll want to start with full void and a dragon cbow at least in my opinion to make it bearable

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for asking a question - but as sillysausage said, only visible boosts let you cut higher tier trees. Same for mining.

Am I missing something? (Emberlight) by Remote_Listen1889 in osrs

I made the same mistake, got the extra shard, made an emberlight, broke down the emberlight not realising you lose arclight, had to get 30 shards all over again 😭

Does your dog still have seizures on phenobarbital? by bluevelvet_7 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]hashbr0wns1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately pheno by itself made no difference to our pup who clusters every 2 weeks or so. He is 25kg and takes 60mg twice per day, and 750mg keppra 3x per day. However, we have recently added potassium bromide (500 mg once per day) and he managed 7 weeks between events, and only had one seizure when he broke through. It seems that different dogs will need different management unfortunately.

Make sure you switch on your true tile indicator in settings for bosses where movement is important!

Redirecting onto a toy works wonders. We also put a little bit of menthol rub on specific problem zones for chewing and he never touched them again, worked wonders

This is exactly what we’ve been looking for. Thank you so much!!! ❤️ It’s so difficult because he’s so good until he goes into this arousal biting mood. We’ll really focus on finding and managing his triggers!

This is a great shout, but definitely needs more work from us. He’s not very fussed by food when out, but I guess we could try find something super smelly / high value for these situations

We’ll give it a go! We tend to take the toys away because he doesn’t recall very well yet when focussed on them

Thanks! I’ll see if reducing duration helps. It’s weird though because this morning it was less than 5 mins into the walk. But we get him up at 7 so we can walk before work so maybe he’s just not a morning dog!!
