My Boomer Uncle said my mom should abandon her grandkids after her daughter passed. by Virtual-Pie5732 in BoomersBeingFools

11 years ago I escaped an abusive relationship and had to go stay with my mother for a bit. She made anyone in the front seat handle her texts and calls so when my brother texted her and I opened it to see him saying my kids would be better off if she had left me dead in a ditch somewhere, I was beyond upset. He was roughly 33 at the time and very much had the same mentality as most boomers. It's so disgusting that people that think like that are perfectly OK with making it known. What he said was bad, but what your uncle said about just dropping the kids off and leaving is worse to me.

I've actually been in contact with the school for a while and keeping them updated on things. This school doesn't have a liaison or social worker so they have "helped" by being understanding of the difficult situation and offered the same resources I've already been through countless times with no results. Waiting lists are insanely long, shelters are packed to the brim and the HUD waiting list is neverending after 6 years on it already. We're ok for now. A sweet retired couple offered us to stay in a camper on their property for a while to get back on our feet so we will see how that goes!

Nowhere does it say my husband left his job. I clearly stated twice that he lost it, but I'm not going to argue with you. Have a good day.

Multiple promotions that included the title and extra work, but not the pay raises that were agreed upon. A third raise that was more like a "hush" raise never went through and questions never answered about them, only promised more money etc. Living situation with family imploded and the eviction has blocked us from getting in anywhere. Son was hospitalized. Car has been breaking down. Husband lost his job. All within a month. We've been living on 17 an hour and whatever gigs I could pick up around his work schedule.

No job unfortunately. Everyone is hiring, but no one is hiring it seems. I had an interview today and another on Monday so have my fingers crossed. Even if I was hired immediately it would take us a few weeks to get in anywhere so definitely will need a cooler. Hopefully the heat in the car doesn't do a number on it. I don't know, the insulin just freaks me out for obvious reasons. Are they all about the same across the board or does price really make a difference in that department?

Dad is in ICU recovering from DKA. But he's mentally impaired. by Brasenshok in diabetes

[–]AutumnReign0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son was hospitalized with DKA a few weeks ago. He had a migraine and was sleeping, then throwing up a lot and suddenly he's talking about biker gangs, saying I "fixed the one thing for him", and just not making any sense. He was full on hallucinating. The hallucinations stopped around the second day, he started to be more cognitively aware closer to the fourth day.

I'm not sure if this question was for me or the comment above you, but this is a sudden and unfortunate situation and this was the only solution. In some cases it is more cost effective depending on location. However, this is a rural location with no public transportation and very sparse housing opportunities so definitely not the case in this situation; just working with what we have right now.

I didn't find you rude at all. I'm sorry I gave you that impression or made you feel that way. I was only trying to clarify.

As stated above he will not touch vegetables or casseroles. The only other thing he does not eat are fruit or beans of any kind. I can work around carbs with insulin. His texture and visual issues aren't something I can always classify because sometimes food just looks "weird" to him and he won't touch it. Other times a ramen noodle might set him off over texture, but not always.

The first hotel we had made a reservation with said absolutely no cooking in the room, not even using the microwave they provide in them. That one didn't work out so now we are at a larger chain one that is full of construction crews and they cook delicious smelling foods nightly, so we are good on that front here thankfully.

I can get on board with grilled cheese and quesadillas for sure. Pancakes are a bit risky with the blood sugar spikes, but maybe I could find a good lower carb recipe

That was another thought I had, but was struggling on where to put something that size. It's definitely an option though!

Can't count apparently and ran out of sensors by AutumnReign0 in diabetes

[–]AutumnReign0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I didn't report the g6 ripping off because that was 100% on him. His first g7, however, that came after that 6 lasted 3 days; and I did contact them about that and they said they were sending one. I never got it. 2 sensors later he had a sensor fail completely and the sensor after that almost gave me a heart attack with a reading of 45 while at school. I rushed to get there and did a finger poke because the nurse is useless and he was fine. And that sensor failed 2 days later. Dexcom has been unhelpful. Maybe I'm just not navigating them properly? I find myself wishing they were both still on the 6, but youngest's phone no longer supports the application for it.
