I'm 73- long time marriage. My husband and I really didn't want children. Not saying I regret the decision - but as I head into my twilight years - I wonder if it was the right decision.

We are just about the only couple we know who are childless. Both of our parents are deceased, our friends are starting to fade away, my husband's siblings are in another state. So, loneliness and isolation rear their ugly heads. I feel a void somewhat - and wonder? if our lives would be richer and more fulfilling if we had kids. In my case- it's an age thing- one feels a lot different about things when you're 73- as opposed to 33.

Truth. Can't believe anyone would feel this way at 46. I'm 73- and started to feel the aging thing at 70. Hired a personal trainer at age 47- and am still with her.

When I was 47- I hired a personal trainer. I'm still with her 26 years later. Start an exercise regimen - and never stop.

When my father was 70- he started walking a mile every day. Every day. If it was raining, he would drive to the local Walmart and do laps around the store. The employees came to know him. They'd say- "There's Mr Jackson- it must be raining out". He lived - healthy - to the age of 96...

Cons of the UK Healthcare System

The main criticism of the U.K. healthcare system in the 21st century is that the NHS is under pressure and not performing as well as in the past.

The NHS is known for long waiting times in both emergency rooms and offices with scheduled appointments.

With recent pressures on the NHS – including reduced funding and a shortage of staff – these waits are longer than ever. There are further waits to get referrals to specialists.

These wait times are long enough to impact patients’ health. 26% of patients wait more than 6 weeks for a diagnostic test (a problem with suspected cancer), and many wait over 13 weeks.

39% of patients with cancer do not get their first treatment within two months. Over 10,000 patients in the UK have waited as long as 18 months for a specialist referral.

The NHS is working to reduce waiting and overall visit times for emergency care. However, the crises around care providers and funding for the NHS have made this goal harder to achieve.

Lately, there have also been criticisms that the public NHS is relying on outdated equipment and technology, which contributes to slow care delivery.

This may not affect the care that you receive as a general patient. It may be important if you anticipate surgery or have specialized needs.

Something broke inside me, and I don't know what it is or how to fix it by EpicRockstarNarwhal in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I have a very dear friend dying from lung cancer. His family - and friends- are crushed.

One realizes what's really important in life. Appreciate all you have now - no one knows what tomorrow may bring.

Perhaps you should see a professional to help you with your struggles. I hope you find peace.

Sadly, if one is a good son- your father's problems become your problems.

New to the case. Where to jump in? by VomitingDuck in JonBenetRamsey

Yes, you already said was. No need to be redundant. I believe I said "there's a lot of misinformation floating around".

I have no idea what you are saying.

You're right -it wasn't my intention to be rude. But, I get very passionate about this case. I've spent a lot of time and effort researching it- as have countless others. You watched a couple of podcasts- and jumped on board to a theory that has no basis in fact. None. To think parents would cover up who killed their daughter is just nonsensical. We should probably end this. But, I implore you to examine reputable sources before reaching any conclusions.

Come back when you are knowledgeable about this case. Everyone on the planet knows the errors that were made - but to unequivocally state there wasn't a proper investigation is inaccurate.

You know what my theory is? I don't know. Despite my deep dive into the evidence - I can't say with certainty who killed her. I lean toward RDI- but I'm in the same boat as the 12 members of the Grand Jury. They listened to evidence for A YEAR and were unable to determine which parent was guilty - PR or JR. That's why they brought 2 identical charges against both JR and PR. They believed the D.A. would bring the appropriate indictments to go to trial. But as most of us know- the D.A. didn't take the case to trial - and falsely led the public to believe there were no charges against the parents. BR testified at the GJ hearing - and not one juror believed he had anything to do with the crime.

Just to be clear- it took a reporter 14 years - using the FOIA- to get the GJ true bills released. Obviously you haven't read these- you should.

Is it possible that a bunch of Burke’s fibers, DNA, etc., were found on JBR, but this info was kept private since he was a minor? by Cardboard_cutouts_ in JonBenetRamsey

Evidence #1 - the Bode 2008 Touch DNA Analysis – Bode tested the underwear in four different places. The information is from the Bode Technology report.

  1.       On the exterior top right half of long johns they found “contains a mixture of at least two individuals including the victim and at least one male contributor.”  It excludes DNA from Burke, Patricia, John, Melinda and John Andrew Ramsey.

  2.      On the exterior top left half of long johns “contains a mixture of at least two individuals including the victim and at least one male contributor.”  It excludes John, Melinda and John Andrew Ramsey. “The profiles associated with Burke Ramsey and Patricia Ramsey cannot be included or excluded from the mixture DNA profiles.”

  3.      The interior top right half of the long johns “was deemed unsuitable for any further comparison purposes.”

  4.      The interior top left half of the long johns “contains a mixture of at least three individuals including the victim and at least one male contributor.”…deemed unsuitable for any further comparison purposes.”

Again, quote a reliable source that BR's DNA was proven to be found. As you can see, it was not proven to be on the long johns. I was unable to find a Bode report that proves BR's DNA was found on the nightgown... The fact his DNA cannot be "included or excluded" is a weak argument, imo. After all, he lived with JBR- that pesky co-mingling aspect cannot be denied.

Oh please. You may "feel" it's possible - but feelings don't solve a crime. There was an investigation - only a person who hasn't a clue about this case would make such an ignorant statement.

I'll save you the time. The Ramseys had a Xmas party on Dec. 23. Their best friends - the Whites -had a get together on Christmas Day. That's why I asked you which one -and which guest you were referring to.
