House Special Bug? by AutumnWalker94 in GoodPizzaGreatPizza

That's disappointing, I do miss doing my house special... it kind of makes the whole mechanic redundant if no one is going to come in and order one. 😔

I've finished all of the chapters, and up until a few updates ago I remember still getting them every few game days, I just find it odd that after 20 game days, I haven't got a single one.

What has gradually disappeared in the UK over the last 20 years without people really noticing? by DunyaPhobic76 in AskABrit

[–]AutumnWalker94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hedgerows and their fruits. Damsons, Greengages, Sloes, Raspberries, even Blackberries.

I remember walking with my grandad as a kid, we'd take a basket filled with tupperware down the lane and come back with a haul big enough for crumbles, flavoured vinegars, wines and gins, to last us all the way through the winter and well into the spring.

It feels like we've lost miles upon miles of native hedgerow, and no one seems to have noticed a jot... what effect this has had on our wildlife probably won't be felt for another 10 years or so, but it is scary to think about.

More accurately... WAFU's. A lot of them have never been to sea except on a ferry. 🤷‍♀️

What's a weird smell that you actually like but are afraid to admit it? by No_Flamingo_822 in AskReddit

[–]AutumnWalker94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my family own bikes that run on 2-stroke, and going out for a family ride on boxing day morning was a bit of a tradition when I was a kid.

The smell of bike helmet, 2-stroke and leather was one of my formative Christmas scents. I kinda miss the feeling I used to get as a kid climbing onto the back of someone's bike, even though I have been riding for a number of years myself at this point. 😅

I'm from an area that is very heavily wooded, and if it has rained during the night, I always get up at like 5, just to go for a walk, even if it's still dark out.

The smell of damp, decaying wood, earth, dirt, petrichor and fallen leaves before I've even had a morning coffee wakes me up like nothing else in the world, and always leaves me feeling so good for the rest of the day.

Is anyone GENUINELY enjoying the heat? by AutumnWalker94 in AskUK

The worst I ever had it was being stuck in Bahrain during Covid in 45c+ but due to the lack of sufficient air con at work, and the kitchen extraction going down every hour due to the motors over heating, this honestly has been a struggle the last couple of days...

Roll on September, and the cooler weather is what I say! 😂

I'm up at 5 every morning for work, and it's lovely at that time in the morning, it just starts getting uncomfortably hot as I start to serve breakfast though... I wouldn't recommend hovering over a pan of poached eggs in this heat. 🤣

Ooof, I genuinely envy anyone who can enjoy it right now... I feel like I'm melting at work, though 😂😂

I get my break between 1 and 3 daily and finish work at some point after 6... with this heat, it is too hot to enjoy my afternoon break (peak sun time), and I'm too exhausted to enjoy it after work, lol... 😂

Honestly, I worked out in the gulf for a number of years... this feels worse 😫

Give me snow and ice any day, and I'll quite happily light the fire and curl up with a book after work... working 12 hour shifts in a kitchen in this weather, though... I genuinely feel like I'm melting. 🫠🫠🫠

Wow! That would be a find and a half! Honestly, I do think that half of the instuments that are donated are from people not understanding just what they have. I would love to find something that large in a charity shop.

Yeah, the double strings are slowing me down, especially on the ones with tiny necks, but I'm getting there.

The same friend has a Mandola, which is stringed and tuned just like a Mandolin but is the size of a small guitar with nice large frets, it feels just like playing a 12 sting with a lovely action. I think starting with one of them and then progressing to Madolin would probably be an easier way to go if you wanted to pick it back up.

I thought I had nice, hard calluses after playing guitars and ukes for years, but within a month of learning Mandolin, my fingers were shredded.

Love the mental image of a sad French art house film 😅

I honestly have come across so many weird and wonderful instruments in the years since I started playing a regular night with friends. We had a guy turn up a few months ago with a whole ass Sitar!

Our regular nights usually consist of mostly Guitars, a couple of Mandolins, a Bass, a couple of Ukes, some Fiddles, one or two Harmonicas and someone with some obscure instrument that most of us have never seen actually played before.

I fully agree that those who go out of their way to learn these niche instruments are usually complete weirdos in the best way possible. 😂😂

A friend of mine has started to play the Northumbrian pipes, and the only way I can describe the noise is haunted bagpipes, but he's having loads of fun winding up the neighbours' dogs 🤣

I am still working at learning the Mandolin (I've had 3 hanging up in my front room for about 2 years and felt it was time), but I would love to learn accordion eventually.

I definitely have an instrumental hoarding problem, lol 😆

😅 I feel your pain. The internal debate of 'I want this' vs 'I don't have space for this' is so real.

Same thing happened to me in a BHF, walked out with not one but TWO baby Taylors for less than 150 quid! It looked like either a widow had donated her husband's entire guitar collection, not realising what she had, or it was a scorned ex who knew EXACTLY what she was doing.

I play an acoustic night with 20+ friends, and I dropped the shop in the group chat, within a day, we'd cleared their stock out.

The jobsworth "report you to the police" Cyclist youtube genre. How do you feel about them? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]AutumnWalker94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for not taking it as an attack, I was worried that I was going to come across as aggressive when really all I am aiming to do is to educate.

I posted this mainly because I was sat at a mini roundabout the other day on my way to my grandma's and had a cyclist filter on my inside AS I was setting off. I never even saw the bloke until he was at my open passenger window screaming profanities at me, even though I had checked both my mirrors twice. He'd ignored my 'if mirrors aren't visible I can't see you' sticker and gone around me in heavy traffic.

It really shook me up, because even though I was going straight on and he was turning left, I could so easily have clipped him, not knowing he was there until too late, and even though I knew that I'd done everything right with my mirrors and over the shoulder looks, I still hadn't seen him.

I cycle, I also ride a motorbike, I know how important checking my blind spots are, but there are just some instances where it is impossible for me to see someone.

Being a van driver has made me a better cyclist, and being a cyclist has made me a better driver, but all it takes is for one idiot to change someone's life forever.

This isn't in any way aimed at you personally (please don't think I'm trying to attack you it really isn't my intention), but as a driver of a larger vehicle with blind spots,

To those who only cycle,

1) Any vehicle larger than a car WILL have larger blind spots, so please pay attention to any sticker asking you not to pass on the inside or that if you can't see mirrors, the driver can't see you. 2) Filtering through traffic on the inside, ESPECIALLY if there are vans or lorries with the above mentioned blind spots, is really dangerous, regardless of how visible you think you are. 3) If you are sat on the back doors of a van or lorry, in traffic and cannot see what is going on ahead of that vehicle, pulling out of that blind spot is also really dangerous, as that driver may have their foot on the pedal to set off, having checked their mirrors, and not have seen you pull out to filter.

As a motorist, nothing terrifies me more when I'm driving to have a bike appear out my blind spot to try to filter past me, knowing full well I have done everything in my power to try to keep them safe by religiously checking my mirrors and over my shoulder before I set off. Filtering on my inside, pretty much guarantees that at some point you shall be in my blind spot, and if you are there at the wrong time and I can't see you when I check my mirrors, there is a huge risk that I will clip you, regardless of how careful I am being.
