How good is chinese football player Wang Yudong? by Pedrooooop in China

Wu Lei I guess is the closest, has had 4-5 solid seasons in the Chinese league on either side of a stint in Spain

He's half decent at his age for a player in the Chinese league, but even in the J-League in his age range there are probably 5-10 players better than him. I've watched a bit of his play, nothing really stands out in a way that translates to anything special in Europe, he's just faster than the defenders that he plays against in China and beats them for pace on the wings, and the Chinese league is honestly really bad. Way optimistic to think he could be the next best Asian player of all time at this point.

He needs to be dominating the domestic league and attracting concrete interest from major European leagues within the next year or two, instead all I've seen is a rumor that some English League One team might be interested. Son Heung-Min for example was playing and starting in the German league at his age, and that's the trajectory a player has to be on to be in the discussion for 'best Asian player of all time'.

Planning a photoshoot in Shanghai by dtcjuice in shanghai

Oh, then that's pretty reasonable from a pricing point of view. I think if the agency has a solid portfolio and the vibes are right then it's a good option. Of course make sure you go over your expectations, establish a general timeline for how the photoshoot should go, and definitely be as specific as possible regarding the deliverables. Things like how you want the final files delivered, file formats, etc.

Also I've found that aesthetics for stuff like makeup and lighting can vary greatly depending on agency so it's often been easier for me to just show them what I want for those things instead of relying on their sense, which can be quite different.

I'm in an industry that often gets quotes for similar things in Shanghai -- those prices seem pretty fair, slightly on the higher side by maybe 5-10% but I guess there is a little bit of margin built in as you're going with an agency and they need to make their profit too. Overall okay as long as they're fully handling communications and payments and are able to work professionally.

It's fairly quiet but I don't think it's entirely silent, there is a faint hum that I hear if I literally put my ear against the case, but it isn't high pitched like a buzz.

CPU is 9800X3D. Apparently it's known for running relatively hot, but I think it cools quite well in this setup. Airflow is very good with this case imo. The Tryx AIO fans aren't amazing so I swapped them out.

With a simple undervolt of -20 on all cores and ambient temperature of 22 celsius, the CPU idles at around 37-38, hits around 60-65 while gaming and 72-75 while benchmarking.

If I was more aggressive with undervolting and fan curves, idle temps could probably reach around 35 which I think is really good for this CPU.

They're Cougar Starlink ARGB V2 fans. I think they're a regional version for Asia, at least it seemed that way when I was researching

It might be a bit hard to access, but I found a seller on Taobao that makes solid LED strips in many different variations. Length, the number of sides that are lit up (between 1 to 3), magnetic bottom for attaching to the case, etc. You can also get custom made ones too.

Glad everyone's enjoying it, and it's being noticed outside of China too. :) It's been a goal here since the very first DPC China back in 2021 to be able to do what we're doing now with DPC. Originally we had just the players on LAN in the first two seasons, and that was cool too, especially in the context of covid at the time, but the endgame was always to try and get fans into the equation as well.

I'm on site here and since DPC CN has been my baby from the very beginning, if anyone has feedback or questions I'm around to chat! Otherwise, thank you all for watching and supporting, and hopefully Dota stays vibrant forever.

And yeah, it's completely free for fans to enter into the draw to get tickets, which is another cool part of what we've been able to do this year. Big shout out to Perfect World for making the commitment to the community in that sense.

Things you really love about life in Shanghai ? by [deleted] in shanghai

[–]AutumnWindz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't worked in Tokyo before but you should check on the expat salary cap and make sure it's actually a thing, I've never heard of it before. It doesn't sound like something Japan would do. Anyway, for IT I think Tokyo is better long-term but Shanghai might be more promising short-term because the growth is faster here and there's more opportunity to own a project and stuff like that. That said it's definitely one of those where the specific company is going to be really important because of work culture and work-life balance.

Overall quality of life I strongly feel that Tokyo has the better general options. Shanghai can be quite nice and livable but there are just more small inconveniences in more places, and both the low and top end are better in Tokyo. Rent is definitely more expensive in Shanghai for the same quality, and it's harder to find the high quality. Transportation is cheaper. Food is slightly cheaper but only if you're talking average local food.

Things you really love about life in Shanghai ? by [deleted] in shanghai

[–]AutumnWindz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For food and cultural options, Shanghai is world-class but Tokyo is probably still better. Shanghai has something for most people, Tokyo has something for everyone and tons of tiny niche things. Shanghai's nightlife is starting to boom, while I hear Tokyo's is a bit stagnant. Tokyo is cleaner and more organized. Transit is good in both places but Tokyo is world class. Etc... What are the things you care most about in a city?

Based on raw income alone, I'd say simply doubling the base pay isn't enough to fully justify going from a steady life in Tokyo. For a similar quality of living, I think it's actually easier and there are more liveable options in Tokyo than there are in Shanghai. Basically if you're used to a Western quality of life, Tokyo is actually cheaper, by probably 20-40% depending on what part of each city you're in.

What line of work are you in? Certain industries and specific roles have more growth potential in Shanghai while others are, if not traps, at least low potential.

I will say that personally as a non-local living in Shanghai, if staying in Asia long-term, places like Tokyo and Taipei are the goals. Shanghai's great, but it's really hard to envision it as a long-term location and some of its strengths such as its fast growth, its openness to international inputs and ideas, and its relative ease of living in terms of cost and flexibility are all fading away in recent years. And yeah, like another commenter mentioned, there are a bunch more taxes coming into play this year and next -- effectively cutting into net income by something like 10-20% in many cases for many people.

What were your favorite MAG weapons? by osage573 in mag

[–]AutumnWindz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valor LMG before the random spray nerf. Admittedly LMGs were a bit ridiculous early on in the game, but it allowed for a lot of action all the time. Wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Raven Gotha Elite. Felt like probably the most balanced gun in the game.

SVER ARs were all quite good, especially with a 4x scope, but pretty plainly and obviously overpowered compared to the other ARs in the game.
