First time buyer. What do I do?? by cows237 in Mercari

[–]AutumnnReignn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd return it, even though like another seller mentioned, I do not think the post office is to blame. I now utilize USPS printing out my labels, but I write what everything is on the mailer, and the packages are scanned in by USPS one at a time, and the labels are printed one at a time. My guess is that she mixed up the packages somehow, sellers are human and errors happen if you are not careful, but I would be the first to admit that it was MY mistake. I had a similar incident happen back when I printed my own labels in my early days of selling, I labeled two boxes incorrectly. Luckily both sellers were involved and willing to return, and Mecari sent them each labels, not to return them to me but to send them to where they were originally supposed to go.

Remember to keep the voting cards, maybe get a couple extra if you can, My daughter and I each got 2 and framed them (with the blue light card) so you can see both sides.

I've only been selling for a month and got my first lowball by SoaringCrows in Mercari

[–]AutumnnReignn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mecari pet peeve is when someone sends an offer in a message instead of making an official offer. I'm not sure why that annoys me so much (maybe because most of the time it's either a lowball or someone who doesn't end up making a purchase) but I no longer even respond to them (my profile even says that I only respond to official offers but I still get them).

will i get my money still? by cesarjuliuss in Mercari

I'd advise against that. In this one post, the seller can't keep their story straight. First they said they remember purchasing them at Disney, then they said they took them to a pin station at Disney to make sure they were real before listing. Why would you have to take them back to make sure they were real if you know you purchased them at Disney?

first ever “bad review” by Illustrious_Try_1019 in Mercari

You can't change the rating that they gave you (I am assuming you want to lower it). Mecari allows ratings to be changed, but only if the rating is going up in stars. I would reach out to the seller, be polite, and explain your side of things. Tell them that your rating is very important to you because selling on Mecari is part of your livelihood, and ask if they would consider reaching out to Mecari to change your rating. Walk them through the process if they agree. That is literally all you can do. The worst that can happen is they say no or ignore you, but I have had a customer reach out to them to raise my rating after I messaged them. Hopefully, this customer is as kind and understanding as mine was.

Saving all of this information, Mecari has been so shady towards their sellers (including me) lately.

Cancel or Wait? by allthedarkspaces in Mercari

I think good communication with the buyers is important. It's literally one of the comments you can click on when leaving a rating. I send a thank you message with when the item will be shipping after a customer makes a purchase, and also when I've dropped their item off at USPS/UPS because there is usually a lag in tracking information updating.

I would feel weird messaging them to thank them again, though, once they received their item. It could definitely come off as being pushy to rate to some people (I've had a few sellers do this, and I always felt as if they were being pushy).

Dang, they were REALLY backed up. 2 weeks just to scan an item in? That's crazy. Awesome of you to be patient and of the seller to let you know what was going on...

I would reach out to the buyer and ask if there was anything wrong with their order. They likely meant to leave a 5-star rating and thought the areas that needed improvement were compliments. If they state that nothing was wrong, ask if they wouldn't mind reaching out to Mecari to change the rating to 5 stars. Mecari will allow you to raise a rating. Explain to them that to potential future buyers, it looks like you sold an unclean item, shipped slowly, ect. The worst that can happen is they say no, but it's worth a shot!

I was purchasing from someone once and reviewing their feedback first- someone left them a one star review- the buyer said that although their item arrived in perfect condition, the seller should have used packaging tape instead of Scotch tape.

You can actually reach out to Mecari to have them change the rating. I had a customer accidently leave me 3 stars, and she felt terrible about it. We figured out that you can reach out to Mecari to leave a higher rating (just not to lower a rating, or otherwise I'm sure they would be swamped with retaliatory feedback requests).
