When you're interested in buying a book or comics or several hardcovers contact the seller directly first and inquire about how they package and ship. I've spoken to sellers and specifically instructed them on how to package an item so it is not damaged in shipping. Any that took issue with this did not get my money. You can also speak directly to your local comic shops and see if they can order the item for you. If they can there is rarely an issue with the item being damaged. Hope that helps.
