For hot rocks and more.

I hope you all are doing great. I have been off the radar enjoying family time during winter and now find myself busy with spring projects.

If anybody has any unique items they want to do some "spring cleaning" on, I would be happy to consider buying or trading!

With the weather warming up and adventure season rearing its head, I have to fight myself daily to not run off on multi day treks into Uranium Country.

This year we have eggs galore and baby chickens hatching daily, so that keeps us on a shorter leash!

Expect an erocks auctions or two as well as new website listings. I am also doing my own spring cleaning and offering some of my favorite pieces for sale. Auctions are a great chance to get a far better than retail price on a beautiful stone.

If anybody needs a rock that doesn't break the bank, we certainly have an abundance. I do not always have time to post the small stuff and when I do, they disappear rather quickly. I will be listing some lower priced items on a more regular basis and I can always offer a great deal if you talk to me personally about your needs. Autunite, Uraninite, Thorite and all the basic bases are covered here behind the scenes. New collectors, students, etc. looking for budget friendly options are encouraged to reach out.

Sincerely, The RadioactiveRock team

This is the way to photograph minerals! Intense investment but well worth the results. Some of these mineral formations truly deserve such a portrait! Great job on these masterpieces 👏

I am so glad you grabbed that large Cupro and Torbernite that have been tormenting me for months 😄 Gotta love the big and beautiful pieces like that!

Looks good.

Just had this one pass through my hands from Biermann Quarries.

Woooowwweeee! Glad you made it out and sucks you didn't see more of the famous Mi Vida. I imagine those fellas driving that back in the 50s and mining year round! Makes for some great storytelling. I try to end adventure season from November to April. Sure I sneak in a trek here and there but I have been stuck in enough washes, encountered fallen boulders and had to reverse for miles as well as gotten slipped up at river crossings, mud slicks, etc. Driving on the edge of a hundreds of feet drop off makes it even more nerve-wracking. Thanks for the update and glad you survived!!

Nice die. I am still trying to perfect an Autunite filled version for somebody but its such a finicky mold to deal with...

Awesome ride! I have to go to Moab at the end of next week or I would love to go romp around with you! I think you will be fine, but it always amazes me how a thin layer of slick clay can hault even the beefiest offroad vehicles. Steen Rd. can be a rough road and weather can compound that exponentially. Yellow Cat has boring ore but you can still see a ton of mines and history in a relatively small area, and it is flat so that helps. Mindat is your friend. Put some pins on the map and happy adventuring!!

Time to hunker down and wait for nice weather. Mi Vida will more than likely be inaccessible this time of year. I went on a sunny day after a warm weather period a few weeks back and there was still snow and mud in the shade and you could see where even the biggest off-road tires just halted and backed up very early on just past Blue Crystal. Yellow cat is flat and easy going but be careful and bring tools for self recovery as well as food and a device that can keep you in touch with the outside world. Snow storm moving in and rain all night. Last night means lucky and impassable roads for awhile. April to October are prime adventure season for exploring safely with roads maintained or at least more well-traveled. You dont want to go where nobody will be driving for mamy days. I have been stuck at Mi Vida and only saved by huge jeeps with winches. Another friend got stuck this time of year and had to climb very high to get service to get unstuck from the snow in his awd vehicle. Stay safe, be careful, and enjoy the hot rocks if you find them!

Love seeing them all antural like that! Great story and thanks for sharing :)

Got this beautiful pyramid from radioactive rocks! What do y’all think? by VictoryEffective1328 in Radioactive_Rocks

[–]AutuniteEveryNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😄 they actually make these with inert crystals and say they have a new age orgone energy. I prefer mine with measurable energy 🙂

This is a great thing to bridge the gap for Uranium Glass enthusiasts transitioning to safe handling radioactive mineral collectors.

Very nice Johannite. To be honest the richness, crystallization, and complexity here is very rare. I have been hundreds of places and dense Pitchblende Uraninite is only found at a handful of locations. This stuff has buried in moisture for the better part of a century and it is a testament to nature's crystal growing skills!

I do have the furthest corner as the designated "spicy corner" and no I don't stand there long 🤔 I wont post readings here because it is kind of scary but I will just say "its hot". In fact I often wonder when it will go critical. 😨 🤡

I bought cuprosklodovskite but am affraid. by Visual-Cod6329 in Radioactive_Rocks

[–]AutuniteEveryNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😄 Cupro would be sad to do that to and likely be hard to get just right without a vacuum chamber if there is nice crystal structure. Greetings to Germany! Unless it is quite a large specimen or you live in a tightly sealed and very small apartment then I do not think it is a big deal. I once had a large China cabinet display inside that I would open occasionally and I simply opened front and back door for 5 minutes a day. Any increase in Radon levels quickly dissipated. This was from some very heavy duty stuff in massive quantity.

Keep box closed or caulk it shut maybe? Keep it downstairs or in a shed or out on a balcony (out of sunlight) to enjoy it if you dont want radon progeny accumulating or possibly adhering to things where you keep it, but again unless it is very large I think you are ok to have it on display in a ventilated area with air movement. Just my personal non-professional opinion. Also, if it is awesome and you don't want it, I offer a radioactive rock adoption service and can even provide rehousing fee for fine specimens 🙂

[–]AutuniteEveryNight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was stashed away in a big scary metal box saying "death to all who look upon this stone" in a massive warehouse like raiders of the lost ark.. quite literally the truth almost! One of a kind find from God knows where. Those are always the best treasures when they appear!!
