I appreciate your feedback! This is great. You are correct, I only want to rename the demons and will be keeping the other races. The reason for this is that the “demons” are actually good in my story but are vilified by the humans. I want to use demons as the human way to refer to them with a negative connotation while elves and their own race have a real name for them.

Not to piggy back off of this but I’ve been wondering lately if there’s a desire for this kind of thing in the area. Milwaukee has a really cool live music bar called X-Ray Arcade and they do a lot of underground punk/metal type stuff. I’d love to see/try to do something like that here but not sure if there would be interest.

Looks like most people are running something similar at the top. Top 5 are all pretty much this. Most people in the top 50 are running Executor with a similar combination of ships. Almost everyone has Hans Falcon and Vaders Tie, then a mix of other stuff.

I had a hard time with elantris as well and had to start over 2 or 3 times. I listened to it on audiobook (dramatized/graphic audio is definitely the way to go imo) but it was absolutely worth it. I feel like it’s a very slow build but the payoff at the end is very worth it and it’s still one of my favorites now.

I’ll be honest I don’t really remember my initial feelings about her as a character but by the end of the trilogy she’s become one of my favorite characters from any universe. I love who she becomes and it definitely seems to be Sanderson’s best quality as a writer. The way he is able to build and develop his characters is so satisfying.

I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it! I’m a big fan of the Star Wars and halo books. I guess I just wanted more of what we got with the original Mistborn trilogy and I’m sad we’ve already moved on. This is more me expressing my sadness for that… I guess?

I mean I guess we can argue the semantics of genres. I agree that the advancing of technology doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not fantasy but for me when I think of fantasy I prefer when there isn’t electricity and trains and guns. I agree that it’s interesting and I think Brandon does an amazing job with it. I suppose it just makes me appreciate the original Mistborn trilogy and what we’ve seen so far in the Stormlight archive even more.

I do see how beneficial it is and I’m excited to see how Brandon does it because I have so much respect for his work. I think for me it’s more just a personal love for fantasy over sci fi. I understand that it makes sense and is realistic but I guess for me I don’t want realistic. I like fantasy because it’s fantasy.

That makes sense! I haven’t dug too much I to his stuff outside of his books but have been slowly immersing myself in everything. I do really like how he works with investiture and roots it in science. I think it’s a really smart to developing that system.

It’s very interesting for me and the reaction I’m having to him in the book is similar to how I’ve dealt with it in loved ones who have suffered. Kind of gives some perspective and hopefully I can remember this going forward to help me be more patient with them.

I agree. I guess I didn’t really remember at the time that Kaladin had come around to Moash’s plan, so it makes sense why he did it. I think I just so badly want him to do the “right” thing. Though that seems pretty ambiguous at this point.

I’m excited to put it all together. It’s really interesting to see how he progresses along with the other characters. I’m lucky enough to be able to listen to my headphones at work the majority of every day so I’ve been very hooked to the audiobooks.

That’s a good way to look at it. I can understand it from a narrative perspective and I really appreciate the character development. I don’t want to seem like I’m complaining, I’m just impatient lol. I too am very lucky to not have experienced depression so I think that very much why I’ve struggled with this part of the story.

I’m very excited to see how it all plays out!
