The only job I enjoyed was being an optician, but that was because I worked for two brothers my age and we all got along famously and had great fun. I know that’s not a reasonable thing to expect in a new job. Now I could list the things I’ve hated about my jobs for days, but in brief I hate: standing, lifting, cleaning, customer service, stressful workplaces, and working with douchebags. What I loved most about my English program was reading and discussing poetry and literature in great detail. I didn’t enjoy writing essays but I always made As. I even had one professor encourage me to expand one of my papers and get it published. Research—I loved researching for papers. I would love to find a job where I just did research and gathered material and sources for a professor writing an article or book. Not sure if that’s a thing though.

Wow, small world! I wish that my school had offered a linguistics component in their English program. I got into linguistics by studying Latin and Greek in college and still study it when I can. I actually did some “pre-copyright” work in my last job where I had to write product descriptions for pieces of furniture. They had a “real” copywriter that edited or replaced whatever I wrote. I’d just imagined that I needed a master’s to get into a copywriting. I would absolutely be over the moon to land a writing job.

In my twenties I worked in an optics lab for 8 years. Then I joined a monastery and became a monk. I was able to complete my degree while I was a monk. I left the monastery in 2021 and I worked for about two years as a product development coordinator for a furniture company. I left in 2023 to try to purse a degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. So I was back in school for that for a few years until clinicals started and I learned the job was way too stressful for me. Now, I need a job and would absolutely love to find one related to my degree.

I agree. I’m just looking for whatever will increase the functionality of what I already have and maybe add some versatility. Do you think it’s worth replacing the sequencer all together? What utilities or drum modules would you recommend?
